Hey everyone, I'm new and just wanted to say nice site first of all!

I saw this thread: http://www.lebgeeks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=5538 and there was a post in it about psn cards coming to beirut on the 14th. I'm just wondering where exactly can I get them from, are they availabe at virgin?
If you scroll down to the last post in the site you provided, you'll find the information you need.
However, there are no Lebanese PSN cards simply because there isn't a Lebanese Playstation Store.

The cards mentioned in the post will work only on the UK or US Playstation Store; however, since the UK and Lebanon have the same Blu-ray region, it means that whatever you download from the UK Playstation Store will work with your PS3.

Here is the last post for your convenience:

the name of the place is 3felectronics

website: www.3felectronics.com

call the guy and get the exact address from him there are 3 places, but call the one in Zarif it is the main one.

Zarif: 961 1 746755

Bliss: 961 1 363871

Hamra (Facing marroush): 961 1 739650

You can order cards and he will get them for you since he trvels each month (Tiwsaye)
Oh yeah I saw that, I was just hoping to be able to buy them directly rather than have to wait a month each time.
And do you know anything about them coming to Lebanon officially (ie the 14th)?

Since we don't have a playstation store in Lebanon, there are no PSN cards available. Also, none will be officially released due to the fact that there is no store to be begin with. Your only bet is to get this card from the place listed and use it in its corresponding PSN store (i.e., UK PSN card in the UK PSN store).

There are other means to get either a UK or a US PSN card but its quite cumbersome.
You'll first have to setup a UK PO Box and a US PO Box which can be done with Aramex (Shop and Ship service). Then you could either:
1- Buy from www.amazon.com website the US PSN cards and have them shipped to your US PO Box. From there, Aramex will then get your package to you in Lebanon.
2- Buy from any number of UK websites, for example, www.zavvi.com, www.7dayshop.com (I'm not sure of these sites' reliability since I didn't try them yet and I guess I'll never will). Have them ship your card to the UK PO Box address and then Aramex will get it to you.

BUT, you have to take into consideration that the Lebanese customs may charge a fee on these cards and Aramex will have to get paid 10 USD for them to deliver the item.

So you see, its quite cumbersome, costly and time consuming.

I have tried searching around more about the issue but couldn't find any other way than the ones listed.

Of course, if you know somebody who lives abroad in the UK and US who is willing to help you, that'll be great. Also, if you know someone who lives in the UAE, they could pass by Dubai Mall and check the stores over there for PSN cards that work in the UK store.

Still another way to get PSN games and DLCs is to share the username and password with someone who lives in a country with a PSN store. I don't know if you know this, but PS3 users can share PSN games and DLCs on 5 different PS3s. In order to that, get the username and password from this someone. Create a new user on your PS3 and then sign in using their username and password. Select the Playstation store and then go to their download history and you can download their entire purchases at no additional cost.

Cheers....
Thanks for the response elchebib! I've heard of the 5 PlayStation thing, it seems like something very easy to take advantage of. Are there any repercussions to the same download of a game being played at the same time? For example would both be able to play online? Anyway its not exactly an option to download big PS3 game in Lebanon at least for me, but it could come in handy for PSP games!

By the way it seems they are selling PSN cards at virgin megastore. I'd like to check sonyworld as well to see if they have them. Oh and do you have any idea how much a PSP Go costs in Lebanon?

Thanks!
No, there are no repercussions for downloading a game and playing it online at the same time. I did that with my Battlefield 1943 and it works great.

If you subscribe to any ISPs (except Ogero), they all offer unlimited downloads during the night which is more than enough to download about 1.2 Gigs of data per night (that's the maximum I've tried when I downloaded the Uncharted: Drake's Fortune demo).

As for the PSN cards at Virgin or Sony World, I have to check about those. Its been a while since I went to these shops. The same goes for the PSPGo.

Cheers...

I passed by Virgin the other day (the City Mall branch) and they don't sell PSN cards. They do have the PSPGo for 309 USD which is a decent price considering that it costs around 250 USD in the US.
I am buying PSN cards over my electronic money system(WebMoney), but it's expensive (for $50 card i am paying around $75).

From where are you buying and how?
Are you getting only the USD cards or can you also get the UK cards?

Thanks

Sorry I didn't see your posts elchebib. Got a PSP Go today for 309 from the virgin in Down Town. I also got two psn cards from there so I can confirm that that branch sells them.

Btw do you think psp games downloaded from the uk store will work on my psp?
Hey Mambea and congrats on your New PSP.
First of all, for how much did you buy the PSN cards?
Are the cards in British Pounds?
If they are in british pounds, then the only store you can download from is the UK storea and considering that Lebanon and UK are inlcuded in the same region, games you download should work.

Get back to me because I can't find a way to buy from the UK store.....

Again very sorry I'm late, I'll keep an eye on this thread from now on.
The cards were in dollars, I bought one 50$ and one 20$ and that's their exact worth on the playstation store (can't remember if there was vat included in their price). I doubt they had any british pound psn cards, but that really sucks if you can't charge uk accounts with dollars :(

Also it seems psp games aren't region locked; I'm using the u.s. store mostly now, its got WAY more games than the u.k. or the u.a.e. stores (at least for psp).
It's the same for the ps3, Games are different in each store.

However as you all know, Games are not region locked for the ps3, even ones that you download.
So for example, games that u download from the US PSN store will work without any problems on any type of ps3.
One thing to REMEMBER is that add-ons are Region Locked. At least the ones i got :)
That means if you are playing a game like COD WAW for the middle east and you download and install map packs from the US store they will not work.

Actually, not all DLCs are region locked.
However, its always advisable to download DLCs for games of the same region. And now that we have cards, you can use those cards to download DLCs for games that are NA from the US store. As for games in the PAL region (EU/MENA), you can use the UAE store for that. :D
the virgine mega stores are providing these cards i got the 50$ card but i had to change the region and put it UAE to confirm the download ! i couldnt charge the card on my official region which is Lebanon

This is because we do not have a Lebanese Playstation Store. Hopefully, with the introduction of the Store services to other devices (Bravia TVs, Vaio laptops) next month, Sony will expand the store to other regions and countries.
ok i know this might be a stupid question
but how can shop at UK or US store i mean i usually open the store and it doesent tell if its US or UK store i assume its UK since i bought the Ps3 from dubia and its PAL

is there away to change the online stores you use??

Dude it depends on the location/address you chose when you created your PSN account. Depending on the location you will get connected to the shop of that area.
It doesn't matter where you bought your Ps3.

As for changing the online stores, what you do is create a new PSN network account with your location the location of the store.
I think that nowadays they do not check anymore if the address provided is legit. So you can choose the country and fill up the remaining fields with random information. If that doesn't work go to google and check addresses of hotels or restaurants in the region you chose.
Keep your old user (do not delete) since users have different saves and trophies.

Im not sure if you can download a game from a JAP store and play it on your regular profile (for example the US one) to get the trophies for that profile.
Hey guys, I have a few quick questions:
I'm getting IDM DSL next week and it's 512Kbps during the day and 1Mbps at night, with 256kbps upload. Is that enough for online play on PSN? I was actually really surprised that PSN was available in Lebanon when I first checked, I thought I'd be connected to some Europe server. At least PSN has that over XBL :)

And as far as the PS Store, I'm not as hyped about it as some of you, though I would love it just for 2 reasons: Demos, and Wipeout HD. That game just looks stunning. I've been trying to create a US account for the demos (don't need a credit card to download those right?), but everytime I place an address it tells me it's false. Can anyone give me some address that would work? I'd really love to download demos.

And as far as Wipeout HD, I'm not sure if getting a PSN card from virgin, as you guys are saying, and downloading the game, would guarantee that it would work... I know games aren't region locked but no idea about downloadable games. Anyone have an idea about if it would work?

And last question, I have Uncharted 2 Region 1, and it's the first game I want to play online. Does the region have any effect one with whom I'd be playing? I don't want to connect to a server with Region 1 (US) people, it's too far away I'd probably get serious lag.

Thanks in advance, I'd appreciate answers :)
