in my opinion it does not matter who is the minister :) basically the approval and satisfaction of the ministry is needed then we will be able to continue with the public works . i personally want to discuss with the minister the capability of utilizing the already laid fiber cables running across Lebanon because that would save a lot . but again we will have to deal with ogero . i guess we can do that by offering them access to the LIX ;) without having to buy cables or anything . every thing can be settled . i like the quote by rahmu , therefor no one should never ever undermine or reduce the size and difficulty of the project because once we do this we can no more continue . i like your spirit guys :) keep it up . from an ethical point of view the person who drove teo away should apologize to him and get him back ! teo is a very important person with respect to this project , and really its not my fault he is not here , Ive tried hard to contact him via many ways with no success .
1- The plan should be centered around teo's document. However, maybe we should get different experts to talk about it and try to optimize it. Not that teo's ideas are bad, but a group of expert is always better than one expert. And the document doesn't tackle in details the question of price/time/cost the project is going to take.
2- Communication, promotion, raising awareness and such should be started on the web. Facebook and Twitter are big targets. A website and a blog seem necessary. Blog should be as active as possible (not easy)
Also get in touch with local tech groups and have them join the movement. (I'm mainly thinking about RootSpace).
3- Once LIX is active enough on the webosphere, it shouldn't be too long before newspapers, radio and TVs start to get interested. End of phase 1: go mainstream.
4- Start of phase 2: Get in touch. Once the problem is mainstream and people realize that the solution is feasible, we should get in touch with the ministry and ask for results/deadlines/clear actions.
5- I don't know what might be the ministry reaction, but we'll come up with our re-reaction (sit-ins, mouzaharat, ...) only then. We don't start by making a mess, we'll do a mess if things go wrong.
the getting in touch with the ministry should be the first in my opinion . especially that we are coming to a new minister of comm im looking forward for us to take over internet operations and so :P
1- LIX should be registered as an NGO. It's not that hard, you just need a president, vice president, and a treasurer. There are some other administrative stuff to do.
2- Tasks and roles should be clearly stated from the start. In a project like this one we are our biggest enemies, and unless the teamwork is 100% effective, the project will implode. If everyone knows what to do there shouldn't be any problem.
3- The relationship with Lebgeeks should be clearly stated. I think both parties (LIX and Lebgeeks) can benefit from each others. Just make something publicly "official".
4- Start thinking money, cause we are going to need it (hosting, campaigns, paying experts, ...) think of ways to come up with some, and who would take care of it.
5- We should get a physical local to meet (unfortunately I won't be able to). And maybe set up Skype video conference with people like me or Xsever (:D).
great rahmu , i guess that's true . im trying to see if i can get a class room at AUST with a sound and video and computer system in which we can gather in and brainstorm
as for the organization of the NGO i guess that's possible and well needed so we can continue properly .
as for the ralation with lebgeeks , its only freindship and has not evolved more than that :P ( the issue will be firther discussed in a meeting in the presance of samer of course :)
@samer: sorry for the misunderstanding
