i just got my 512k connection from VISP net
its very fast and supposedly unlimited if you don't abuse connection

when i download from an http site direct download the speed is really good

but when i download a torrent file it doesn't reach full speed
i also noticed something the upload is real slow compared to the download like maybe less than a 1 kb

when i talked to the visp ppl he told me something about not uploading too much

so maybe visp has slowed upload for some reason and i know that utorrent slows ur download when u limit ur upload speed

anyone know anything about this also is there a torrent proagram that will go at full download speed even if upload is slowed down ??
As a customer, he should be able to use anything he wants. Torrents are a nightware for ISPs..

How much are you paying for your account toxic?
It is normal that the Download speed while downloading a torrent is not the same as downloading from a direct link, it depends on your torrent client first of all like Limewire. utorren, bitorrent ..... and most important the seeders and leechers and while downloading seeders may increase or decrease and leechers may increase or decrease so it will never be stable, and about uploading mmm this word doesn't exist in the Lebanese internet dictionary ;)

Uploading is one of the most important powers given to communities since its beginning. Thomas Friedmann talks about it in his excellent "The World is Flat" book (I strongly recommend reading it).

Unfortunately, Lebanon will still be a third world country as long as revolutions like uploading won't be available to us.

ya i know that kind of stuff im talking about torrent with so much seeds it should be in mb/s download
i just have a question i htough uploading would be not a big deal since most people depend on download rather than upload

the ppl who use uploads would be ppl who design websites and create databases for sites right ?
toxic , are you connected through a reseller ?
i went to VISP and they came and connected me so i think its direct connection to company
ah ok , cz getting it through a resller is much more expensive, i pay 50 $ for 256

Seems interesting, I need to read about that, it might be the first thing I pay for on the internet.
Hi toxic, i have the same issue with torrent being throttled to a holt, so i opted to the next best thing, it is called usenet, it is a paid service available in europe and the americas. It allows for direct link downloads with full speeds . there are many options to choose from. I like usnet services that has a web interface built in for http downloads instead of NNTP. Good luck.
p2p traffic has always been shaped. everywhere in the world it is shaped.
p2p creates an unbalance in the traffic, it's a serious issue and pain in the ass for ISPs and researchers. It has its advantage, but also a lot of disadvantages.
p2p literally rapes bandwidth on a long run of time and a lot of data transfer . no wonder isp's hate it :) the plan being worked on here in Lebanon now the BIX and later our LIX will enable superfast p2p within lebanese located computers connected on any isp .
I think torrent and p2p is low priority and wont pick up much speed, no matter what you do.
