Hey guys.....
Does anybody know if any of the Lebanese ISPs provide public IP addresses instead of private ones?
I'm asking because of a problem I'm facing.
I have a Playstation 3 at home and I play online games on it. The reason I want a public IP address is because I want my NAT type to be either 1 or 2. With my current 512 kbps IDM DSL connection, I'm getting a type 3, which means that ports needed for the proper functioning of the Playstation Network are closed.
I've tried a billion ways to open these ports but with no success (port forwarding didn't work, no way to DMZ). I even contacted IDM support several times and the only thing they figured out that I can have a NAT type 1 or 2 connection is when they gave me a temporary public IP address.
The thing with NAT is that it limits your connection. It won't matter if you simply browse the web and read emails, you won't notice the difference. However, if you use torrent applications, play online games or use any
P2P applications, you'll notice the difference.
As a side note, one of my friends has a Pesco connection from IDM (512 kbps). I have tried that connection on my PS3 and it gave me a NAT type 2, which is surprising.

I once wanted a real public IP address (And I am with IDM too) I contacted them and they told me to contact their sales office, I contacted sales the guy told me that They can give me a real IP over ADSL if I pay :
100$ per month for 512k with 6 GB quota
1xx$ Per month for 1 Mb with 6 GB quota
300 000 LL for 2.3 Mb with 8 GB quota (HDSL)
I said ty I only needed it for online gaming and it is not worthy for me.

I dont know hows the DSL system in lebanon but in general u can configure ur modem or ur switch manually to play online games like I do on my xbox 360, on my PS3 w on my pc...u should give a specific ip @ to each machine so normally u have a plage of ip @ (eg from 192.168.1.2-->192.168.1.22)...ur NAT u choose strict.

I have told you about it Elchebib but you said it is maybe becasue it cant detect the Lebanese NATs. Even though i tried PS Home and it went ok + i have assigned a fixed ip for the ps3. But one day when i was configuring the connection to play pirated ps2 games they aslo sent me some ports for ps3 i think i'll resend them another email (using the IDM Webmail)

i think that Terranet gives us public IPs, bcz i tried to use my laptop as ftp,pop3,.... server, and i successfully connected to it from global internet, another thing you can try, connect to internet using pppoe on the computer itself and not the router, then ur computer is seen by the whole internet as real host.
