Hi,
I was wondering today about the technical differences between Classic OS and OS X. I would mostly like to know whey apple did the transition. It seems to me that OS 9 already had lots of the features of OS X, so why not improve it instead of totally rewriting everything from scratch?
What are the technical motivations, and are they any other motivations?
I wish I could get my hand on OS 9 and learn more about its architecture.

I wish someone rewrites X.

As I understand, they didn't want to fall int the same mistake Microsoft made and be stuck supporting legacy applications forever. That is why they rewrote stuff from scratch. On the long run, it is a good thing.
