  • Running Linux operating system on PS3

Hello, most ps3 people have heard about this topic so i thought we may discuss it here.

I have already downloaded different versions of linux to install on my ps3 and for now, none has work.

I got the linux yellow dog which is the official one for the ps3 and it didnt work

i got ubuntu and it didnt work

between this and that i have already downloaded and tried 3 different versions of linux but none has work.

Does anybody has an idea on the topic?

Has anyone been successful at installing linux on the ps3, iam sure some have because i know that some of the guys that i play with online have done it.

need some help on the issue.
what exactly is not working? where is it failing? is it failing to install? is it installing but not booting? is it booting but not being usable?
battikh - iam am able to boot, but then when it comes to where i have to choose a screen resolution it doesn't work. ( its where you have to type one of the following

install_ps3_1080p
install_ps3_1080i
install_ps3_720p
install_ps3_480i

i have a sony bravia lcd hd-ready 32", and i have tried all 4 of the mentioned commands but non worked it just says something about a file or a command thats not found and it stops, on the web it says that after typing one of the commands, a red hat installer should start but it doesnt.
and your ps3 is connected to your tv with a HDMI cable, right? not RCA...

and that error is for red hat i assume. what about ubuntu, yellow dog or open suse?
yes my ps3 is connected via HDMI, and its yellow dog that is not working, maybe you can recommend a good one that i can use; i tried yellowdog because i heard that it is the best one for the ps3.
