did you know btw that now kaspersky scans twitter links for malware.
we should really make a technical review of antiviruses ... i'd stick with kaspersky even tho i am not using any antivirus now

I used to use AVG but it's been around a year for avast
rolf wroteI used to really like AVAST. But I think you have to pay registration, like most other AVs who used to be free.

You can always find a trial reset tool.

Microsoft essential ftw! Free, fast, efficient.

Norton and Kaspersky are much too heavy on the system for my liking.
At work we had NOD32 and it was excellent. When the licence ran out they installed Kaspersky: I can't stand it. The daily scan slows my system to a halt.
On my personal machines I use the free version of AVG. It used to be good, but I feel that the latest version has become sort of dumb. I'm fairly sure my system is infected by some memory stick worm that slipped past AVG.

AVG internet security (got it off bittorrent)
Moudi
seriously whats wrong with antiviruses ? i NEVER used one.
The only way to get infected is to download some stupid softwares ( EMAIL HAXER ) from youtube.
And usb spreading, But you guys should get sandboxie, really its worth a shot, its really better then any antivirus.

Antivirus = Noobs :D

When it comes to antivirus software, people are subjective. Not only that, they get so defensive over them as if they have coded the software themselves. It's whatever works for you apparently. If someone's in love with NOD32, there is no chance in hell you could turn his mind around. Anyhow, there is one antivirus that tops all you've listed, and it's not what we think or you think, it's the Redhat 's seasonal tournaments that decide that. Do your digging, find out which anitivirus tops all, and manages to capture newly released viruses even without updates sometimes.

Im using the Symantec corporate edition and never tried anything else.. dunno whats better actually but this one never gave me any problems.

Am I the only one that doesn't use antivirus software?
99% of the time, getting a virus is due to the user doing stupid shit like clicking things they shouldn't be clicking. We're all familiar with our PCs, why would you guys bother (unless it's a business policy)???
Flakk
I once spent like two entire months without any antivirus software on my laptop(just for testing) and when installed the antivirus software the full scan showed me a fair number of spyware and malware on the system.
I had it constantly downloading torrents (which i think they were all virus free)
Its really essential to have anti-virus software on your pc.. youll never know where malware is gonna come from (cd's, dvd's, usb flashdrives...)

Unless someone
wants to infect you; then again, the odds of that being detected by AV software are pretty low.
Moudi
@samer, 100% true, if someone wants to infect you he's Crypt it so it will become FUD ( fully undetectable ) Its pretty easy, and i haven't installed an AV for 3 years and never had any viruses bugging me.

I like Avast. It's working great for me, along with Symantec , SUPERAntiSpyware, and Online Armor. that's basically my security setup.
