Hello guys ,
I am using a mac.. and i need ur recommendation on the software you use in almost every category !
just basic stuff or something that u like to use
my criterias are the following :
- small to download... i am not into downloading something that is 800 MB that only can burn a DVD
- open source / freeware
Otherwise... i know i might have to use crackware again
Thanks for the help.. but the personal preferences and actually good software is the sort of things u can't google !
Appreciate ur suggestions
Thanks in advance

Adium, VLC, Ecoute, TextMate, Vox (a small footprint audio player), MAMP, Handbrake, iWork, Transmission, Transmit, UnrarX, The Unarchiver
Chris
@samer: Ecoute? Nice app but I think its kinda useless.
Vox is nice for formats that aren't natively supported by iTunes and when you just want to listen to some track without adding it to your iTunes library.
Check out AppCleaner, Quicksilver, CyberDuck (Transmit is better, but this is an excellent open-source alternative). You may also want to take a look at the numerous available text editors. (Google is your friend (:)
You don't really have to worry about payware though, "cracking" apps is a hell lot easier on OS X. (I'll PM you with details if you want)
However can you be specific? What kind of apps do you need? Is there anything particular?

little snitch, netnewswire, skim, tinyalarm, tinycal, anxiety, document palette, flip4mac wmv, ...
and of course don't forget to install xcode tools

Thanks guys for the help.. will be googling and checking the stuff above :D
Maybe like this we can have discussion about different OS X software and compare them :)
Any Preferences for a download manager and something to burn CDs/DVDs ?

It's really useful when you have a huge iTunes library. I don't need to open it anymore, Ecoute parses the database and is lightening-fast

speed download for managing downloads
disco or toast for burning
rolf
Did you get a mac?
samer
speed download for managing downloads
Speed Download is actually the only software I ever bought for OS X.
The developers (YazSoft) did a great job :)

I guess I didn't want to go through the the hassle of having to worry about a [K]ed app. Also, that way I would be supporting the developer :)
