non secure country/network , online fraud cannot be easily detected in Lebanon because of the state of our network , few internet gateways serve huge amount of costumers with no IP tracking.........
Did it work afterall?

Can you not simply have a bank account and Master Card/Visa interface to submit the payments?

PS: As my question might reveal, never done something like that.

Interesting! What bank are you with?
I did the same with moneybookers. I used an HSBC account. Worked just like a regular wire transfer with associated fees(around $30).

I have an internet credit card, using it to purchase things online... through it I made a moneybookers account for more security, I can add funds to my moneybookers account directly from my credit card & the fee they take is too low so don't concern urself about it... Moneybookers is reliable, if you want to receive funds from other people they must have another moneybookers account to transfer funds to ur account, hope I helped

@Bij, yes, Michel of Optimum is highly reliable. I've been working with the guy for a couple of years now. Very ethical and trust-worthy.

Quick update, there was an announcement at ArabNetME that Paypal will soon be available in Lebanon! No word yet on how soon; however, they did say "2013" so ... Here's the tweet by alfa.
Finally. Now, what is PayPal?
Good to know!
Now we can open shops with unlimited potential buyers around the world instead of the limited Lebanese market.
Also we can finally have access to the tons of Chinese cheap multimedia and accessories products
Excuse me for being a nooby in it,
But, Soo, what does this mean?
Now we can directly shop online from sites like ebay/amazon etc... without using a US or Canada address etc ?....
Or it will be just the same, difference is that the payment will be done through Paypal only ?
The advantage of having Paypal supporting Lebanon is that companies, start-ups and developers will be able to use Paypal's payment gateway on their websites and mobile apps without going for local gateways offered by banks(such as the one by Audi) which suck in terms of documentation and high rates in comparison to Paypal.

In conjunction with accepting any type of popular cards(such as Visa and Mastercard) by integrating Paypal you can also accept payments via users with Paypal accounts. Paypal accounts are very popular all over the web as a means of payment.
Sooo in conclusion...
Is it possible now to order directly from amazon/eBay with the price of only mentioned in items description which includes everything....and with no extra charges to arrive here in Lebanon ?
Avolio I don't think you really understand what's Paypal...
Ok let's say you're playing Diablo III(EXAMPLE) and you want to get in-game money. To get it you have to use real money. You make a Paypal account, you put money in the Paypal Account by using your credit card information, and you use the paypal account to buy in-game money. Paypal has nothing to do with shipping.
I mean that's what I think there's a 80% chance I may be wrong.
AVOlio, PayPal is a payment option. For example, instead of using your credit card directly to buy stuff, you make a paypal account and transfer your money on there and use PayPal instead. You can benefit of many additional options and bonuses by using PayPal.
Guys, i know that, i know what paypal is.
But my question is, now that it is available here, can we just order away an item and receive it directly from just a Buy click on the site?
Without using all other stuff like shop and ship or whatever....

They just explained that no, it's not related.

You still need shipping services.

However, if the place you're buying from supports PayPal and ships internationally, then now you can buy from it. But you still pay for shipping in most cases.

No, that's not it.
  1. Paypal is just a payment solution. It helps you transfer money from you to the vendor.
  2. Paypal will charge you for this. Hey, they're a business, not a charity! I don't know how it compares to the rates of current online payment solutions in Lebanon. Keep in mind you still have to pay for shipping, taxes and other charges just the same.
What's the big deal then?
Paypal's service consists of unifying your payment methods for all your internet shopping. Every time you cringe (and you should!) at the idea of writing your credit card number, or any other private secret, remember how unsafe the Internet can be. Paypal will offer you a simple solutions where you give them your private info once and they will give you a financial identity online.

People already pointed out that from a programmer perspective, in order to set up a billing mechanism, it's easier to deal with Paypal than the banks. As a result, there are several online shops that support Paypal payments, some of which exclusively.

People are excited because:
  • Access to Paypal means access to a broad panel of online shops.
  • Startups and programmers have the possibility to set up payment gateways rapidly for their products.
  • Paypal was "refusing" to open in Lebanon for political reasons that barely made any sense and this pissed off a lot of us.
