BTW the new firefox javascript engine (still in dev) should be faster then Chromes V8.
Nice benchmarks, but synthetic benchmark do not reflect true speed in everyday browsing. Still Chrome and Firefox are the top browsers on the market.

Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing this with us rolf, IE has never let me down it is always useful and there for me to help me out ..... whenever I need to laugh lol :P
No matter how crappy IE was, is, will be; People must always support it.
Here are the results on my system

P.S.: Ran the test 3 times per browser.

IE 8

Firefox 3.0

Chrome 2.0

Safari 4.0

Firefox 3.5.1
My IE freezes on the RegExp test
I just got safari... its pretty cool... so here is a comparison.

IE 7 (pimped up ie6)
- Bundled with the OS
- Acceptable ergonomics
- Kinda cool looks
- Low memory consumption (probable the lowest of all browsers)
but
- Crap javascript performance, unstable
- Too much buttons and menus everywhere
- Feels a bit unresponsive

Firefox
- Good cpu performance (probably the best), especially for people who open countless tabs.
- Good memory performance compared to Chrome/Safari
- some useful extensions for developers
- Very customizable to the users needs and habits
but
- Depressing default looks and skins usually feel amateurish
- Misbehaving extensions and too many extensions to choose from

Chrome
- Nice google feeling to it
- Great functionality and ergonomics
- Great javascript performance
- History search
but
- Sneaky processes (u never know how much cpu google is eating due to the processes always spawning and dying)
- A tad unstable

Safari
- Great looks
- History search
- Great 3D history browsing and top sites interface
- Good javascript performance
but
- Horrible cpu usage
- Quite bad memory performance
- No new tab button
"... too many extensions to choose from" as a minus
"Misbehaving ... " i haven't encountered such addons

but if you insist on bashing addons:

"Almost all addons break on every major firefox update, and some take long time to be put up to date"
"Some addons may cause memory leaks"
proners wrote"Some addons may cause memory leaks"
That, plus compatibility issues among addons (one addon having an effect on another, etc...) is what I would call misbehaving addons.
Also, other weird stuff can happen, even after you uninstall addons. For example my menubar used to show/hide in the following fashion.. the menubars visibility on firefox startup would be the opposite of what it was when I quit the application. For example if I closed firefox and the menubar was hidden, it would be shown when I start firefox again, and the opposite being true.
Fixed it by editing a chrome css file... but I wonder where that came from, I think it has something to do with addons.
