I honestly didn't have much time to look around , and would appreciate if you can give info on the ppl there

The Lebanese people have the right to benefit from the speed of a True Broadband Connection already available in many countries around the region. The LBSG asks every Lebanese to sign the manifesto and join the Lebanese Broadband Stakeholders Group.

Broadband services are a must for economic and social development in the 21st century. Education, health, media, advertising, financial and banking, ICT, engineering, retail, and manufacturing are sectors increasingly dependent on connectivity for growth and competitiveness. Social networks and applications are opening new means for communication. Lebanon needs to catch up with the rest of the world.

Signing manifesto it is one thing. But another thing there is no REALISTIC proposals.
It is all nice but there is few unsolved questions. What exactly actions should be done?
And i think first step should be:
1)OPEN international backbone market. Without extreme fees like 100.000.000$, but government have right to ask let's say 5% from sales. This N1 question now.
2)Lawful regulation to access city infrastructure. Laws how cables/fiber should be laid, how contract with municipality should be signed, and other guidelines for ISP's and local providers.
3)Affordable internet quality standards.
4)Monopoly (local, regional, country-wide) regulation. For example if only Ogero have right to have telephone exchanges, they should give access there in reasonable way (pricing, terms, reliability). Not like we give them paper to join there and they are delaying 2 years. They should be fined, if things done in this way.
5)Controlling unlawful actions and penalties for such actions. For example some cable guys cutting cables of each other. This should be punished and person who did this should be fined. Probably his license should be taken.

This i think more real manifesto.

Btw if you know anyone from this group, let me know if we can contact them. I can put for each VISP user this manifesto and propose to customer to sign it. If it will be reasonable. Current one is just looks like promisses that politics throwing on TV before elections. Completely unreal.

that is why i asked here if anyone knows someone from the group.
the website is designed by born interactive... it is not a cheap web company ... i wonder if they volunteered to do it or that much money was spent.
I don't want to make the community or anyone put effort in the wrong place for the wrong ppl
but if they are good ppl, it would be better to join forces than start a different group.

Regarding the alternative, there are some very basic ones and I think if some ppl sit together, they can elaborate a really good plan ... the will of the gov. and pressure from ppl are missing the most.
The brainpower is available i guess :) and i don't think it is rocket science to get a decent connection for lebanon ... even tho it could be hard and needs lot of planning, but still !

It would be nice if you can put for users in VISP to sign. but first let us check on those ppl
and it takes only a few hours to set up a site for users .. no need for design company.. we can always do it.. but i prefer to merge effort if the ppl are good

Well i guess whether they're good guys or bad guys, creatin such a movement would at least wake the regular internet user in lebanon up, and make them realize that the so called "broadband" in lebanon should actually be called VNLVS (Very Narow Limited Band Scam :P). cuz i think if the majority of the users are "satisfied" with these kinds of limited connections, there wouldnt be a chance that the gov. and mister "miracle boy" do anything about it!

(BTW can u imagine what kind of speeds mister miracle boy has for himself?! :P )

Yes, the big PATRIOT. If I come to power to Lebanon, I will act in his way - everyone who haven't voted for ME is considered as being ILLEGAL HUMAN BEING as from the very next day and is a subject to extermination.

It is shit when "people" can make rules that suit merely their interests. Be sure, God sees everything. We had the same politician like him - greedy to crazyness. And he died in great pain from cancer of the rectum (yes, I am not joking). A funny punishment yet so true.
