Anyone's using ext4 yet? I recently converted my hard disks to ext4. it performs much better than ext3 but is still not so reliable in case of power loss. Also fsck is way faster on ext4 partitions. at least 80% reduction in time needed to fsck a disk.
It feels better now on kernel 2.6.29.1 but the data loss on on incorrect shutdowns in still there. ext3 was a lot more reliable. Anyone else can share their experiences on ext4?
I havent tested it yet but should i exclude it and compare the existing fs of all that are available, i personally would choose xfs. it has a long history of reliability and functionality.

when it comes to the ext series, i still preffer version 2, hence ext2. the reason is that regardless of that it can be slow, it does not loose data to the likes of ext3. ive had one to many bad experiences with ext3. just as once did with jfs which was promising up to a point.
I have installed a beta version of ubuntu 9.04 which supports ext4. Speed sure is impressive (boot time around 20s with default configuration) but i haven't experience any data loss yet, then again I haven't used it for that long.
There is data loss issue, but it is caused by poorly written code. Smthing related with missing fsync on close... Linus blamed authors of ext4 and asked them to fix. SO there should be fix soon or patch at least.

Yes, some ext4 patches were merged in 2.6.29.1 which I'm running now.
A little bit out of topic, but let me complain.... my entire next week (or in the very best case - half of it) would go into repairing a Nextone softswitch, because the stupid frenchos have choosen reiserfs for as a filesystem for it =)

It just crashed at 4AM without any particular reason... After repair the /bin directory has been lost... and God knows what else.... Ehhhh Mr. Hans Reiser :(
ReiserFS? Strange, maybe they used old kernel. Only very old versions had issues.
But this FS have fragmentation issues.
I think Hans can't help u. He is jailed till end of his life :-D
