rolf 25.6 TB over a single optical strand... Imagine what speed it can yield in an optical cable with multiple fibers.. Whats comes after Terabit? http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=109&STORY=/www/story/03-28-2007/0004554820&EDATE
teodorgeorgiev Pb (PetaBit). You better imagine what kind of an ASIC one router/switch would need to be able to switch/route such a capacity.
rolf Youre right. That single fiber is faster then the world record for memory bandwidth. They can build a device that randomly distrbutes IP packets to a bank of routers. But the problem of the chipset/memory bandwidth keeping up with the cable bandwidth remains.
