ok, on my windows live messenger, i was busy playing a game, and noticed it kept alt-tabbing me out of the game so it could give me messages sent from friends on msn..

one of my friends happened to mention that i was "appearing offline"
however my status is always on "busy" and it still showed busy on my msn window..
but i still keep getting sent messages telling me when the friend of mine sent it, and still becomes the main window of the computer..

i tried signing off and on, tried going online and back to busy..

i will give a reboot a try soonish, but was wondering if anyone else could tell me whats going on
because it means no one can see me online, even though i want to stay on busy..

It is quite possible that you entered your information at a certain point in time in a website that advertized that they can show you who "Blocked" you. Your information is recorded in a database and used to connect to MSN (which would thus disconnect you) and send messages to your contacts.

That's one of the cases.
to test the above theory, change your password and all related information.
I think then it should work.

other than this, try installing a fresh copy of windows live messenger or log in to msn using another client like for example digsby ( like this you get to troubleshoot if the problem is from the program u using to connect )
(btw.. what version do u have ? )

and welcome to the forums, hope this can be of good help
if a reboot doesnt work, i will definatley try reinstalling msn..
version of msn i got is: 8.5.1302.1018
in your msn settings, there is an option that says: "show me as busy and block my alerts when i'm running a full-screen application", make sure this option in enabled.
you could also manually disable alerts in the settings.
but yeah, automatically making the msn window the active one when you're appear offline is really annoying. you're appear offline when you don't want to be disturbed and its when msn is the most annoying. you're typing something, and hop, the conversation window becomes the active one and it interrupts your typing or clicking or whatever you were doing.
