  • World of Warcraft and Lebanese DSL

Greetings to all,

Prior to making a decision as to which type of ADSL connection to install in my new home, I thought I'd ask the people who have already been through the trouble of 'testing' things out.

With the introduction of all those different ADSL plans from IDM, Sodetel, etc... I was hoping to find some Lebanese WoW players who are happy with their ADSL choice for online gaming.

I've been playing WoW ever since it US release, and am currently on EU servers (Deathwing).

If there are any WoW Lebanese players here that would be so kind as to give me their own personal recommendations for a good experience (as in good latency), I'd be highly appreciative.

Also, please specify which package (256kbps, etc...) is best / enough.

Thank you in advance :)
Hello,
FlyingWizard wroteIf latency is also a concern.. stay away from terranet and IDM.
Also, It seems Ogero has one of the best latencies (kind of obvious if you ask me – they have the monopole)

Hmm i must have missed this topic.

Yes as samer quoted me.. IDM and terranet are the worst ISPs when it comes to latencies. You can whine to them all day long and they insist you are on their fiber line when you are getting 800ms to google.

Ogero's (blink) DSL is the fastest but they do not have the unlimited quota (you should be fine though if you dont download a lot)

Otherwise , WISE and SODETEL are "okay" .. you get 200-500ms all day long.. goes back and forth

what server do you play on? you get a very high ms ! its not good :S
Hi mohqas,
First Welcome to the Forums :)

Regarding Your Comment, it Hurts
Please don't be cruel on the guys, stop pointing the fact that the latency is not Good... as flyingwizard pointed, a 200-500 is something Okay in here :P
plz Leave the Guy Happy as he is !
I quit heavy online gaming ages ago, what I play are the occasional DOTA matches on garena.com.

It doesn't bother me much now, some 5-6 months and I am out of the country.
-- sorry if this is kinda off-topic

YaY! one of our Fellow Geeks has become a Grown UP (no offense other gamers)

but come on really.. aren't u tempted to play just one game at blazing speed, bring back to good old days (i am just being bad, i want to remind you of the cold bad truth that YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION SUCKS BIG TIME)

Anyway... Sad to know that yet another geeks is leaving Lebanon
and in your case... I immagine you - the Flying Wizard - Humming...
Leaving on a Firebolt..(8) don't know when i willl be back again
Leaaaavvvvinnggg... (8) on a broomstick... (8) don't know when i will beeee back (8) againnnn (8)
[ hope u got the song ]

Samer, You should change slogan to LebGeeks, a community of Lebanese living abroad enthusiastics
eh, 200 ms is .. annoying, when I play games such as tremulous , the closest servers are in germany, and in best cases i get a latency of 87ms , when it is around 121ms .. you can't play it ! .. boom ! you are just dead, a bug bite your head !
You have serious problems if you cant play an MMORPG at 121ms, no offense.

:D
lol, its not an MMORPG, its just an MO, and its first person shooting, so yea .. latency is very important :P unlike WOW (:
Considering the topic, no FPS was mentioned.

And yes, its slightly annoying to play an FPS over 100ms.

So I'm guessing here, you are on BLINK's DSL ?
sorry, i didn't introduce my self, I am from Jordan, not Lebanon .. so no, am not blink
but the thing is, the countries are so close and latencies shouldn't be different ! :S

Hello, i am new and just found out about these forums.

Been using Ogero DSL since it was available in beirut, and i have to say, i was SHOCKED that it was good, i mean really good.

Me and my brother live together, and we play world of warcraft together and we share the same modem with a network.

So that means, while we are in a raid, we have 2 wow accounts, 2 MSN messengers, and 2 vents open at the same time, not to mention a few sites here and there, all that with no lags what so ever, and no DC.

The government actually did something "nice".

EDIT: changed right ti nice =P
right ? what exactly is right ? :P
ur paying quite a lot compared to our neighbors .... so we should *at least* have that :D
mohqas wrotesorry, i didn't introduce my self, I am from Jordan, not Lebanon .. so no, am not blink
but the thing is, the countries are so close and latencies shouldn't be different ! :S
Not necessary, jordan and lebanon maybe be using different routes, different underground cables, and the latency on the internal network also may vary.
all i can say glorious ftth(fiberoptics to the home)

elaborate, please

All I can say is - bullshit.

Even if I run fiber to every house in Lebanon and the international backbone is 200Mbps (in total), THEN WHAT?

The existing end-user media can bear much higher speeds. The problem is - there is no Internet to feed them (the links to the users).

First think, then talk, God damn it!
^^^ Effing trolls.

Back to subject: as mentioned in other thread, IDM's DSL has some changes concerning WoW's packets. If you go to command line and do a ping you will get 800-1200ms. However try to log into the game and its 200-400ms all day.

But overall quality remains to Ogero/Blink - you just can't beat the service they offer you.. well except for the shitty quota
mind you i don't live in lebanon
but i have been approved to have a 10 mbs fiber optic to my home
ftth will replace dsl
