hello guys,
on windows xp , after installing the updates, windows xp for some weird reason keeps asking you to restart your computer in order to finish installing the update
geir ano this pop up is so annoying, it keeps poping every once in a while , its default focus is set to restart
there is no way i would restart my system, since i have a thousand window open and sometimes for other reasons
i want to get rid of that screen
any workaround ?
is there something in the registery where the delay of this window poping up is saved , i want to change this to 1 zillion second
thanks a lot if you can help in this
i hope i made myself clear

easy :D
open the command prompt and type: net stop wuauserv
this will stop the automatic update service, thus the popup will stop showing and you can restart whenever u have time.
however the service will started again next time you start your computer to allow receiving updates.

I guess harami has the best answer.
What i normally do is a bit different, I bring up the task manager and kill that process (i think it's called wua something...)... once it's dead, nor more restart nagging.
