Safari is now available for Windows XP and Vista. Get it here http://www.apple.com/safari/download/
Its still in beta stage, so it currently suffers from stability problems and a few nasty bugs.
Unlike other Apple apps on Windows (iTunes and QuickTime) Safari is actually pretty fast (faster and lighter than Firefox), and has its own font rendering that is similar to OS X's.

Anyway It'll be good to see how the final release turns out to be, I'm definitely sticking with Firefox for now.
Firefox is killing my CPU on Ubuntu and on Windows XP. It would be good to have an alternative while i'm on Windows ; but for Linux i guess i'll have to switch to Opera.
Firefox is currently taking 123 MB on my computer, that's insane for a freakin' browser :P
Give Epiphany a shot on Ubuntu, its good, and completely integrates into the UI.
I never liked Opera, I'll just be using Firefox for now (on both platforms).

As for Safari, I don't know, its very fast and everything, but sure isn't stable at all, and I wish they'd make its UI integrate into Windows, because the current 'Aqua' one doesn't go well at all, it feels like emulating an app.
Thanks Hyakutaro, i'll check it out tonight :)
Samer
i will go have somewater then comeback and read
maybe it is just too early.. i am still terribly sleepy.. my eyes might be betraying me

well.. give the latest a opera a try.. you gotta love it man ..
give the features a read so u really know all the features

waynak ya mahdoum ti2ra samer's reply

and chris.. what exactly u don't like in opera.. name the features in details

by the way.. opera mana la bayeh.. i am not defending it
I don't like Opera because I feel everything is cluttered, and I'm more into minimalism. Now, this wouldn't be a problem if Opera was as customizable or as flexible as Firefox. The other thing are the extensions, I have over 20 extensions that are currently running in Firefox that are literally critical to my browsing sessions, Opera cannot provide that, it only supports User JavaScript, and that's nothing compared to the extensions available for Firefox. Last but not least is the immense community behind Firefox and the fact it being open-source, I rather use an open-source application that is much better (in my opinion) than settle for a weaker closed source alternative just because of some memory problem, 100MB don't really bother me over 1GB.
what are the extensions ur using ?

man.. ur almost completely brainwashed with the open source stuff

for me.. something i don't have to pay for.. well i like it i use it
i still use firefox also..

oh.. a 100MB additional don't bother you..so.. define:better for me :P
No, I'm not brainwashed with open-source stuff (I'm currently dual-booting, and currently using XP more than Linux), I just said that I rather use open-source apps (as long as they're better of course). And yes, Firefox is way more powerful than Opera, and has much more potential just because it has a huge community behind it and is open-source, just like foobar2000 for example.

The extensions I'm currently running are:
AdBlock Plus
ChromeEdit Plus
Compact Menu
Cooliris Previews
Customize Google
Download Statusbar
del.icio.us
FasterFox
Firefox Extension Backup Extension
FireFTP
Fission
Flashblock
FlashGot
Gmail Notifier
GreaseMonkey
Mouse Gestures
Searchbar Autosizer
Stylish
StumbleUpon
Tab Mix Plus
Video Downloader
Wizz RSS News Reader
I'm not saying that Opera is utter crap, Firefox happens to be simply more powerful, and has to ability to enhance my browsing experience much more than Opera. The latter is only a good alternative if you're suffering from memory problems, or if you just happen to be a performance freak.
Opera kills me:

1. Speed dial thing that you can't remove
2. Yahoo over Google, especially in the Opera Mini homepage :/
3. No status bar!
4. "cluttered" feeling (like Chris)
5. You can't develop your own extensions (or do it as easily as you can do in Firefox)
6. The way the pages load (Text first, image last)

I could go on :)
points 1 and 3 are not true... u can hide the speed dial, and you can put the status bar, it's just that it does'nt come by default...
@Samer: You simply can't develop extensions, only User JavaScript is available, therefore you can only make some scripts that will change the way pages are handled and rendered, which is pretty basic compared to the extensions on Firefox.

The Fox of Fire pwns every other browser out there, its simple :P
post an extension u developped

don't get me wrong.. i use both.. the fox and the opera
post an extension u developped
What's your point?
Le renard de feu est 1000 fois plus puissant qu'une grosse dame entrain de hurler :P

@mir: And yes, what exactly is your point?
Samer wrote4. "cluttered" feeling (like Chris)
Tried downloading any themes? You know you can customise the way it looks and feels and there are tons of themes available online
Samer wrote3. No status bar!
Like battikh said, its not there by default and comes standard on most themes
Samer wrote2. Yahoo over Google, especially in the Opera Mini homepage :/
Yahoo over google in what way? I like opera's quick query, if you put "g lebgeeks" it will automatically take you to google results of lebgeeks (not sure if this is what you call speed dial)
@mahdoum: The theme can simply change simple elements on the GUI, not the main concept and design. When I talked about the cluttered feeling I wasn't talking about the default theme or any of the graphics.

Anyway why the hell has this turned into an Opera vs Firefox discussion? The main topic was the release of Safari 3 Beta on Windows :P
well i guess safari 3 is not in league with opera and firefox yet :P
It doesn't matter what you think mahdoum, this thread was intended to discuss the release of Safari on Windows :P
And actually Safari (well on OS X at least) makes a descent competitor to both browsers.
Chris wroteIt doesn't matter what you think mahdoum
Chris, it does matter, just not in this thread. No need to be pushy ;)
