USB Malware

mir

I am a 100% sure that my usb got malware on it

after my license expiration problem with Kapersky
i used AVG after recommendation from Samer

but the thing is that i just scanned my usb
i have all updates installed
and no thread detected..no nothing

so i am lookin for help finding alternative

first any one can offer help regarding the Kapersky ? (i already posted about that)

or

suggest a new solution for me to use

i was at that guys place.. he is using an antivirus..i am trying to recall the name
it contains a D.. or a B .. it is 3 -4 letters
it detected the malware on my usb
i can't call him and ask him the name
cuz there is work i am supposed to deliver for him..but still haven't finished

your help is very appreciated :D

It really depends on the kind of badware it has. I think it is packed with a custom packer or it was completely custom-made. Nod32 might have detected using one of their recognition algorithms that would detect suspicious files without them being released to the wild. When I'm on Windows XP AVG has been my choice for years, and I have never had a problem while using it with some common sense (i.e., never trust unknown publishers and doing a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) before opening a file.)

Use Linux and clamav :-D
The most stupid thing in windows - it is autoexec.inf and "nice" folders, which exploited by worms to infect ur pc just when u plug flash.
I am cleaning flashes at work for people, using my work pc with clamav&linux :-)

Just enable to view the system files, u'll see the autorun and the files if any.
that's what most of the malwares do.

I was wondering is there any antivirus that i can install on my usb
not on pc
and that monitors the activity from/to my usb and asks for my permission to do writing or execute some actions
to think of it , 1GB are so common now..
i can't ensure havin a clean system on each computer i use
i can't even ensure having an antivirus
i will happily use 50 mb of my 1 gb usb to ensure my peace of mind
Damn.. Damn Small uses 50 MB of pure penguin power

Checkout TrueCrypt (in travaller mode). But you'll need admin privileges on the "public" box since it uses a custom driver.

no, truecrypt is NOT an anti-virus. You'll see it's benefits once you know more about it
