samer I'm on an Intel P4 3.60 GHz - I'm having heating/noise issues. 2 solutions: 1 - effective cooling system, can you recommend something good? 2 - getting a core 2 duo desktop, only problem here is the price, the " bas-de-gamme " E6300 1.86GHz 2M cache costs $183 according to Intel's price list, but $208 (ex. VAT) from pcandparts, and they don't have anything better. the aim here is getting a fast/silent system that could be placed in a bedroom, thanks.
karim-soubra it depends on how long you intend to keep your system upgrading to core 2 duo requires a new a motherboard (and maybe new ram)
LebaneseChiphead Samer, Just go ahead and add a cooling fan, make sure the Fan will below in the direction as the other fans so U will have a flowing current inside the box. It is the easiest solution, About the noise, it will only add a few dbs to UR noise level, U would not even notice the difference. :) Chips IMR
rolf You can have a very silent air cooling system if you carefully choose all your components (including the case). Bass t pas bien parti avec ce CPU. ;)
rolf Samer wrotebut the availability of Core 2 Duo (and the prices!) in Lebanon aren't very encouraging =/ Yeah I know... i wanted to buy one but ended buying a 3.4 dual core today. We'll see how it behaves... :)
