Massive Attack isn't really my kind of band. Deftones leans towards the alternative-metal genre.
I'm more of a DnB, Progressive, Alternative, Metal guy, with a touch of regular rock (Like Radiohead), IndiRock and Dubstep q: (I beat the auto ": P" remove system, yeah!)
That's some good shit, man. Except for the metal. Although am I correct in assuming that because you like metal, you like the rougher DnB/dubstep (i.e. brostep)? Skrillex comes to mind. Motherfucker makes my ears bleed, but that's just me.
Myself, I prefer liquid dubstep when it comes to dubstep. Much more mellow. I remember it's all I used to listen to when I used to code. I had this weird thing I used to do where I'd imagine my program processing to the bpm of track. 3 AM, Pepsi, dubstep, coding, good stuff.
Here's a sample of what I used to listen to:

I don't know why Skrillex has such a name in the Dubstep business. He only has 1 song that's actually dubstep. There are far better artists out there.
I listen lots of types of music. But one day I might hate dubstep and like alternative, some days I might hate alternative songs and love some doom metal. It all depends on my mood and what I'm doing. If I'm doing some cardio at the gym, I usually pick something that sounds like an action movie song, and run accordingly. I mostly do intervals (Max effort 30 sec, 10 sec break on off) and alternative rock is perfect for such things. On weight lifting I listen to slower Ozzy Osberne or similar bands. On my way home, I listen to dubstep like the ones you listen to or something like Daft Punk, Monster Cat, Deadmau5 etc.
Like I said, it depends on my mood, and what I'm doing. Some days I keep some Pink Floyed or Pearl Jam in the background in my room while I study/work
