I know many of you here like gadgets and new tech. One of them related to cars is the automatic proximity unlock, where you the car detects when you are nearby and unlocks itself.
Well apparently there is a vulnerability in this system which affects all such cars. It's very simple, the signal of the key fob is amplified, and the signal of the car is amplified (it needs two persons). The car thinks that the key is nearby and unlocks itself.
This is of course a conditional vulnerability, the thieves have to get in proximity to the key (and to the car, which is usually not a problem). So you can stash your key somewhere deep into your house, in a faraday cage. Some keys can be also be disabled. Do not keep your key next to the door, here is an example of what can happen if you keep your key next to the door:

Manufacturers have to fix the system, I'm guessing such attacks can be detected measuring the delay of the response.
I also think they should inform their customers.
