Hello,
I have an external HD, WD My Passport. I stored all my pictures and backups on it. I wanted to back it up, but since it was fairly new I held up to get a second one.
Recently, when I plug it in the USB port, the drive letter (K:) appears in my computer. However, when I double click it, the file explorer freezes and remains frozen (you can hear the drive turning and making normal operation sound though).
I tried:
Changing the USB cable.
Changing the computer.
Error checking the drive.
WD recovery tool ( when I click the drive, it freezes also)
Does anyone have any idea how I can fix my issue, the data on it is precious and I can't lose it.
Thank you

try to change cable/usb ports, then if didnt help - smart status, most likely or drive dead or something wrong with drivers.
Worth to run linux live cd and check smartctl there and when you try to open - to check dmesg.
