Hello guys,
My desktop was running smoothly in the morning, after leaving it for like 20 minutes, i found it turned off.
I tried to turn it on without success (nothing on screen, no keyboard/mouse light, no motherboard beep... nothing)
However the fans are on, gpu fans as well...
What could be the issue?
Could it be the PSU? since when i try to turn the pc on, it takes like 5 tries (it turns off automatically, it looks like an electricity issue)
PSU Model: ThermalTake smart SE 850
Thank you for your help

Are you sure it is not a hibernation issue?
Try to stress your psu to find out

Faced that issue in one of my builds , it turned out a PSU issue under-volt , replaced with a more decent one every thing went smooth.
Always try to fit a three categories in your PSU choice:
A tier 1 or 2 PSU
At least 80Plus Gold Certified
Japaneses inside components by reading reviews and users forums with users actual experience on Reddit.
A none-quality PSU will run you system yes, but the durability and components safety will be lackluster and mediocre.

I appreciate your answers guys, however this PSU has been running for like 2 years without any problems.
Concerning the PSU stress test, the PC needs to be running right? i am not able to turn on the PC.
Any alternatives?
Thanks.

you are not able to turn on the pc at all ?! even with a hard reset ? try remove the power cable from the psu ..turn it on few times to remove any residual charge .. then try to boot normally
is there anything showing at all on the screen ? like post ?bios ?errors?
ironman
Not at all, i tried all the things you suggested.
Nothing showing on screen at all, keyboard and mouse do not show any sign of power...

change your psu and try to make sure it is not the mobo or something else

i am convinced it is a mobo issue .. maybe try to reset your cmos ..remove battery ..remove power from psu .. try to boot several times .. then connect everything and boot

First perform a PSU test by shorting the pins on the 24-pin connector.

If the PSU turns on, then most probably it is not a PSU issue.

The basic procedure when troubleshooting hardware is try to remove all non-essential components, then:
- If it fixes the problem then put the components back one by one until you find the faulty one.
- If it does not fix the problem then start swapping essential components (such as PSU, RAM, CPU) with compatible ones until you find the cause.
Some problems are intermittent which makes them very hard to trace, but I'm guessing you don't have this problem.
Yes it could be the PSU, I think that if is not able to reach stable voltage then the fans will spin but the computer will not boot.
It could also be something else.
RandomMemory
This is a powersupply issue.
potato
Its a sign of a burned motherboard.

I believe it is the motherboard as well, happened with me last year, i had to replace all the components one by one (i used from my brother’s desktop) until i finally replaced the motherboard which turns out to be the problem.

Thank you for your feedback guys, i actually took the desktop to a friend of mine (who owns a shop),
we tried to replace the PSU with two "shitty" PSUs, issue remained the same (Since he didn't have a good quality PSU)
We tried to unplug all the "extra" components (GPU, DVD...), issue remained the same.
So today he will try to test the MOBO (Voltage things, he said that he will download the "Map" of the MOBO and test the components one by one).
I will update you.
Thanks.

Also try different RAM sticks. I had an issue where the computer wouldn't boot and wouldn't give any display. Then restarts after 10 seconds. A bad RAM stick was the issue.

Thanks guys for the answers, this stupid shop spent the whole day testing “voltages” of the different components of the mobo, he said all is good BUT he is not sure its a PSU issue and he doesnt have a good quality one that we can try,,,,
@MrClass we tried the ram thing, no success unfortunately

I was skeptic when you said he would test mobo components. There is not much use, either it works or it doesnt. Trying to diagnose and fix it is way too advanced for most people including myself for sure.
Anyway I think it is possible to determine if the PSU is working by measuring the voltage and watching the signaling on the PSU connector. I think that the PSU has to give off a "ready" signal for the mobo to start.
Usually with a bad CPU or RAM the mobo will beep, but I would still try to replace these with parts you know are working. Maybe the speaker is not working, for one thing.
Anyway good luck!

It appeared to be a MOBO issue...
Since my Socket is "1150", i had the choice between two mother boards. ASrock and ASUS
i got the Asus H81M-C
PC is back online.
Thank you for your support and always remember, change your UPS batteries whenever the PC starts to turn off automatically.

Well another problem just showed up, my Razer keyboard and mouse are not functioning on this mother board (Inside Windows, they do however work in BIOS), my guess is that this is related to drivers (USB Controller and maybe other things) that are related to the old MOBO (Since i did not perform a clean installation and used the same disk)
Do you have any hints?
rolf
There is usually an option in the BIOS "legacy USB", it can affect keyboard and mouse in such situations.
It might also be a problem with the Windows driver, if they work in the BIOS. Try to uninstall and reinstall the device in device manager.
