Hey everyone,
I recently finished building my new 8th Gen desktop a couple of months ago and the only part that's still missing is a graphics card. I'm still using my 970 from my previous build which is keeping up fine in games, but I wanted to upgrade to a GTX 1080ti. Honestly wherever I check for the 1080ti its somewhere in the range of 1200-1400$, where it was around 800$ a few months ago. I know this is due to the cryptocurrency surge, but I'm wondering how am I gonna manage to get a new card close to the MSRP with all those inflated prices. I'm also considering just waiting for the new line of Ampere cards from NVIDIA which should be out in a couple of months. Any suggestions?

You can wait, but it is not really clear when Nvidia will release Ampere for consumers ... as far as i know everything right now is just rumors. If you want a gtx 1080ti I just bought one med feb from a nice place for under 900$ (Asus strix) i can show you from where if intrested.
I personally dont like the waiting game, i always buy the best single gpu my money can buy. No one clearly knows if the price inflation will continue with Ampere or not, but anyway it’s up to you to decide if you should buy one or wait.

If you could tell me where that place is or give me contact info I would be really grateful. I also don't like the waiting game either so I'm trying to just find a place that sells it for at least 900$ if not less, since anything more than that would just be very unjustifiable.
