SSD and Optical Drive Enclosures

Hey guys.

I have an Asus laptop that unfortunately did not come with an SSD. There is a mini mSATA drive that is extremely difficult to access without breaking something, so I have decided on buying a regular SSD and attempting to fit it in somewhere. My idea is the following.

Remove my optical drive and keep on using it externally using this: https://goo.gl/dMtnQQ
Get an SSD (I think 500gbs) and place it instead of my hard drive.
Take that same hard drive and place it in the slower SATA II optical drive using this: https://goo.gl/d8rjHU

My question for you guys is: do you know any place where I can buy these products as I would not like to wait for aliexpress for months. I would not mind paying a little extra.

If you also have any suggestions, I would be very thankful.

Replace the HDD with the SSD, forget about the HDD and use it as an external backup.

Hey beezer, the thing is, I will be using that hard drive a lot, unlike my optical drive, so I am keeping that as a plan B. Mayyad, thanks for this find! I can buy an external optical drive if I need to so this find is a life saver.

I got one of these drive trays on ebay and did the upgrade on my Acer laptop. I barely use the DVD, true.
I had a spinning drive, after a while it got corrupted. I wonder if the drive had any shock protection and if it had anything to do with that.
Anyway now I am not using neither extra drive drive nor DVD, there is just an empty space where the DVD tray was.
It would be nice to put two SSDs in RAID.

Hey guys, on an unrelated note, I have a ~200,000 L.L. voucher from ABC only. I was thinking of getting a 500GB SSD from M2 but that costs 220 dollars! Outside of M2, that costs much less. I am restricted to ABC stores only and don't mind paying extra, but I do believe in being reasonable as well. Any recommendations? Any buyers for the gift voucher?(has 196,000 L.L. and willing to sell for 120 bucks or maybe a bit less)

You're welcome! I think it's a cool idea. Someone put several SSDs on Raid a few years ago and made a video about it. Everything started so fast - Windows was booting in like 1 or 2 seconds.

I have a laptop and it's a bit old now, I have a single SSD and am getting maybe 1/2 or 2/3 of the maximum speed of that SSD because of a bottleneck on the CPU - the CPU FSB is very slow. So if I put two I'm sure it will be a waste.

If you want to do something like that, make sure that your CPU can keep up with the transfer rates.
