Isn't that true for any university, even the bit about the teachers tormenting you?
In private universities you will be paying them so they have more motives to be nice to you so that you will stay around and keep paying. However if I'm not doing well I'd rather fail quickly than to hang around and repeat the same courses 5 times.

(coming from a second year in Engineering in Hadat).
I have heard this before about engineering. However, would it have something to do with motivation? I mean it can be related to other factors such as if you really want and engineering degree, and if it is "your thing", for example? Just a theory.
In any case good luck and I wish you courage and success.
The problem about motivation is that you're stripped of it. As I said I used to barely study programming courses and ace them, while getting my grades raped by Nuclear physics, mechanics, etc... When you're in the first 2 years and you know the major you will carry on with, while being forced to learn stuff you couldn't care less about, you get demotivated.
BUT, people who have better resilience, mentally, and are very organized, tend to do much better in LU. I am a lazy person (a programmer lol), I rely on logic not memorizing indexes, as in knowing that this question is similar to this page from this lesson, and endless nights of studying.
I actually passed the first semester without failing any courses. But I simply couldn't think about spending my next 7 semesters in the same fashion, without losing my mind. It simply wasn't worth it for me. Especially that telecom tends to be the most life-less major in LU.
The only reason to go to LU is budget. I ended up working as a software developer from year 2 till graduation to pay my fees, and I'm glad I did. I graduated with experience, and screw that useless peace of paper with dean's signature on it. I use it to light fire for "mashewe"
Also let's compare it to other universities. I graduated by studying as much as 1% as I did in LU (not gonna name the UNI, but it's no way a bad one). In LU reading the course and doing the exercises is nothing, you have to study and index at least 10 older exams (Dawrat). In private universities, when you're good at a course, you don't even need to study, because the teacher will not go to Mars to find the exam. And yes, teachers can be <that part of your body you let waste out from> anywhere, but in private universities you wouldn't care cause if you're good, you'll pass the exam even if the teacher doesn't like you. (Trust me, no teacher on earth likes me lol )
I can go on typing about this forever. Simply, if you have the money DO NOT go to LU. If you don't , well either try to work along side some private uni, or go to LU.
