vlatkozelka wroteCould you please stop recommending 1080Ti s to people? Buying one is more of an enthusiast thing rather than a necessity or even a luxury. Not even people like Jayz2cents or Linus from LinusTechTips would recommend a 1080Ti, and these people have Titan XPs in sli on water just for the sake of the overkill... Jay usually recommends the 50 and 60 series for people.
As you go higher with Nvidia cards, from 50 to 80, you lose more return of investment, as in you get less performance boost with more money spent. Buying anything from the 80 series, especially in 2017 where every gfx card just skyrocketed in price, is really a waste of money. You can buy a 70 even a 60, and be happy with your 100+ fps. Don't forget that to take advantage of 1080Ti, you'll need an adequate screen that'l set you back at least another 500$ !
I mean you're the person who once stopped me from buying a whole new rig just to upgrade to some CPU I didn't need. Now you're recommending 1080Ti s to people ?! Its a 1000$ GPU. I could upgrade mobo + ram + CPU + SSD for the price of a 1080Ti !!
Btw this is coming from someone who spent a bit over 500$ on watercooling parts just for the experience, but you don't see me recommending this stuff to people.
I disagree , the 1080ti provides a great performance to price ratio where games are becoming very demanding and more GPU Bounded. The 1080ti is faster than the 1080 by 35 % ( on average) in addition of more Vram and much higher memory bandwidth. A system with an i7 2600K + 1080ti is faster and can pull more frames in gaming than a system with i7 8700K + 1080 ( similar to 1080 vs 1070).
Watch Dogs 2 , Ghost Recon Wilds Lands , Dishonored 2 , Assassin Creed Syndicate , Empire , Total War: Warhammer II , Mass Effect: Andromeda , Quantum Break , Deus Ex: Mankind Divided , AC Origins and the trend will continue in 2018. 1440p requires AA too like at least MSAA 2x not a blurry fxaa which adds over head on such heavy titles too. I have the 1080ti for 1440p 144hz as a monitor and a 4k hdr 60hz tv as a 2160p , Even in 1440p in such titles the 1080ti is struggling.
