Interesting topic.
I currently have an old smart samsung TV 6 series, 46" FHD.
I am currently working on selling my house and getting a new one. With that move, I want to get a decent 4K HDR TV for my PS4 pro (and PS5 in the future).
My main constraint is obviously price. I don't want to pay more than 1000$ max! Being 50"+ is also a requirement.
After some search, and thanks to Rtings, it seems the best budget 4K HDR gaming TV is the TCL P607.
https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/best/by-resolution/4k-ultra-hd-uhd
I contacted TCL lebanon and they said it will be coming in February or March.
I'll probably be getting it, if priced below 800$.
Guys on a further note regarding HDR,
i do not own neither a ps4 pro, not Xbox one X or S.
I got a PS4 only, and a PC of course.

Will HDR be useful to me on my platforms?? Is there any HDR content or Gaming on the PS4 and PC?
Regular PS4 supports HDR and yes games like hitman and RE7 both support HDR on PC.

I have a pseudo-hdr TV and the difference with HDR on is gorgeous and very noticeable. It comes without saying that a TV with native 10bit hdr would look even better.

If you can afford getting a decent TV that supports HDR then it’s a no-brainer.

Could you please provide their official website?
or any info about them?

It will certainly be below 800$ for the 50'', actual TCLin Lebanon 50'' 4K are around 500$ and 55'' 600$, so the P607 would be at these prices with perhaps 50$ more
For the price point and performance the TCL 607p is a very good 4k HDR option with Full Array Local Dimming ( about 50 zones) and good contrast due to its VA panel /good HDR peak brightness along with a very good input lag @ 4k 60hz HDR and 4k 60hz 4 4 4 Chroma Subsmapling . TCL 2018 models will be better sure , but they need time to reach the market here.

For its price point it beats all Samsung MU series even the MU 9000 which retails here ~ 1900 USD for the 55" ! ( which are a failure in 2017 - Not Qautum dot and mediocre local dimming).

The Sony x900f ( replacement for the Sony x900e ) that will be released soon as the 2018 model , is very tempting too since it includes the x1 extreme processor that the x930e has at the price of the x900e ( currently retails for 1400 USD at Tahan for the 55") with new technology” it refers to as X-Motion Clarity, which “keeps fast action images smooth and life like. Along with Sony great upscaling and color reproduction.

The X1 extreme processor will enable the x900f to have benefits over the x900e, that has the x1 processor, chip as the following:

~Dolby Vision Support
~Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR
~Dual Data Base Processing
~Object-based HDR Remaster technology

Samsung in some 2018 Qled models has a very good feature for gamers ( which is an HDMI 2.1 feature but they implemented it on HDMI 2.0) which is Variable Refresh Rate - VRR that works like Freesync and Gsync - which is a very good plus for gamers. Still reviews will tell how it will be implemented , but in all cases it will eliminate the usage of Vsync.

2019 will be the big impact move , as tvs will go with HDMI 2.1 which is a big leap and close the gap between TVs and Highend Gaming monitors - Thanks to the features of HDMI 2.1 and it is wide bandwidth 48 Gbps compared to 32.4Gbs on DP 1.4 , that will enable TVs to do

144hz on 2160p along with HDR 10bit signal
VRR

Sony demonstrated their Utimate X1 Processor that will enable that in 2019.

TCL Lebanon page on facebook. Couldn't find any website yet. And they are pretty social. I hit them a FB messenger msg and they replied the next day! I like that!

The TCL P607 is a 55" TV. So I think it is priced fine if it is anywhere 800; good if 700 and great if 600 which I highly doubt.
infiniteloop wroteTCL P series have Android right?
From Rtings website:

The TCL P607 runs the Roku TV smart platform, which is fairly simple but is fast and easy to navigate. The interface is remarkably fluid, with almost no frame drops or lag. There is a Roku app for smartphones and tablets that can serve as the TV's remote, change inputs, launch apps, change some settings and can even play the TV's audio through the phone or tablet (not for HDMI input though). The physical remote is very basic but has a headphone jack for playing the TV's audio, though this stutters sometimes.

I've messaged them like 3 days ago, they've only seen the message today, but still no reply.
I've asked if they have a showroom to go and visit and see the TV's, that'll be a fun experience before actually buying one.
For TCL you need to contact Abed Tahan , they are the official Distributor in Lebanon along with Sony.

TCL runs Roku , and other vesions in some countries run Android ( the ones imported to Lebanon is most probably Android not Roku). From my expereince of Android on the x930e ( Android TV 7.0 Nougat) this is fast and lot off apps. Android TV OS on recent TVs improved a lot , the stutter and lag part has been reduced siginificantly ( sure this depends on the TV processor too).

I went to tahan,
Sony 900E 55" costs about 1530$, i forgot if TTC but I doubt it was.
The 930E 55" was at 2100$.

@techguru you were a bit off there with the prices you mentioned, or they must have increased the prices?

Also I looked at the TCL tvs.
I must say some of them looked great, and it only got better when I looked at their price tag as well.

They didn't have the P600 series, I asked the employee, he said they don't have and didn't think they'll bring it either.
When it comes to TVs on a budget, I'd always recommend Hisense 4K TVs. They're budget friendly (50inch 4k smart TV sets with HDR, usb playback, tons of ports...etc for $400-$450 when they go on sale). 43inch 4k sets go as low as $320 sometimes. I've tried both and they're great.

The only complaint is that when the picture is fully white, there are spots on the corners that are slightly dimmer than the center of the TV but this is only visible if I'm actually looking for them.

Same here, TCL Lebanon on facebook told me they will have P6 series on February while Abed Tahan employees claimed never heard of it!
Perhaps TCL Lebanon is not for Abed Tahan after all or there are 2 dealers

They finally replied to me and told me the usual answer, be patient soon we will have the P series in Lebanon, stay tuned on our Facebook page as we will sure post about it.

And I'm sure abed tahan is partnered with tcl because tcl on messenger gave me the number of tahan to call if I needed any help. I guess it's the usual untrained or unaware employees that work in tahan that don't know what is going on.

So that's what I'm gonna do, stay tuned for the post.

On the price point range , TCL is definitely a better pick , at least some models have technical reviews on Rtings.com and the P607p is one of the best price/performance 4k hdr budget tv. None recommended a Hisense for example and their HDR 10 implementation is ambiguous , note that if a tv accepts a hdr 10bit signal it can marketed as "hdr" but in reality lacks a wide color gamut of DCI P3 and 2020 Rec color space.

I bought the x930e mate at Tahan Red week @ 1900 USD , and it worth each dollar I invested in.
TCL P605 is the same as 607?
BTW in Europe they have the P6046, which is actually the P607 but with different sizes like 49'' and 55'' and Android instead of Roku, I hope they will bring the European model as I don't need 55'' for my room, 49'is more than enough

I prefer 55 but I definitely would prefer android too!

From rtings website : The TCL P605 offers the same performance and picture quality, but has a different remote.
