Hi fellows,
I am looking for help to start my life here in Lebanon.
Okay, let's start :
I am an 18yo boy living North of lebanon looking to live (BEIRUT) and work and study (LU) without my parents help .
So my questions are :
How hard is to start a life from scratch like that ?
Is it even possible ? (Please share your experience)
Is it a good idea ?
What type of jobs can i find ?
How much should i earn to survive ?
Keep in mind that i am a very livin cheap guy.
Please guys help me it's a life changing decision and am seeking your help because i know your like me or have been.

Please set your number 1 priority to be the choice of the right college major and the proper education, starting a new life is not what matters at your age.
Living on your own should not be a mission impossible if you have the habit of taking care of yourself otherwise you will find it very difficult.
About living conditions for a LU student who does not live near the campus, no big surprises here:
You need to rent a foyer (a shared one if you cannot afford much): 250-300$ /month (those were the prices back in my days in Fanar). Put an effort to find one with a walking distance from the campus as this will save you a lot of money because most probably you will be going from and to foyer several times a day due to time gaps between courses.
You will need another 300$ for living and tuition expenses/month (Food, books, photocopy...) assuming you live cheap.
You can secure your expenses with a waiter salary + tips but hopefully you have done some waitering in your life.
I sincerely do hope you can start your first year with some cash you set aside because the first few months should be about adapting to a new environment and not looking for a job.
Good luck

Stay positive and hopeful.
Don't forget to exercise and enjoy nature regularly.
Also consider living where you are - unless you have a specific idea in mind. You say you want to study at LU in Beirut, so I guess it counts. I mean Beirut is polluted, overcrowded, too expensive, warm, damp, loud, people are running away from it.
I don't know if I am like you.
Also you might want to have some money put aside, and be dedicated to making more of it.
Finally, you need a good amount of luck!

I believe there are several decent/cheap foyers in Laylaki, if that's the LU campus you'll be at. It's not Beirut proper, but it is at the end of the bus 4 line, so commuting to jobs in Hamra or Solidere is easy.
