Hello

People are saving money by buying used cars online and shipping them to Lebanon instead of buying them from a local car dealer.
Has anyone bought a car and shipped it from usa (using pages like auctionexport)?
How difficult is the procedure?
do you need connections in USA or Jemrok to do that?
is it worth the hassle?
Hi,
I bought a car online from the US. I have identified the car and went to a car dealer in Lebanon who deals with the US. He bought it for me and checked on the car and sent it with his other cars. Of course you need to do your calculation for the shipping cost via the sea + the Lebanese customs cost which is tremendous. The advantage is you can pay him gradually, don't need to make a full payment in advance.. So as an advice, go to a local dealer and ask him for this specific car and he will tell you his final cost arriving to Lebanon to your door or let's say keys in hand.
was it cheaper than buying an already available car?
how long did you wait till it arrived?
what i chose was different from what exist in here.. special engine etc.. it took one month to get to Lebanon and couple of weeks for customs etc..so if you want to buy one from abroad chose an exceptional car otherwise better buy it from here.. Also don't forget Carfax for any US car.. you do the demand online you get all the historic on the car..
I brought two cars over just recently. I had them shipped to Tripoli port and I cleared them myself, I found it very simple and the people at the port and at customs to be very happy and kind of respected that I was doing it all myself. I just needed the name of the vessel, when it was arriving, along with the export papers of the vehicles, my ID of course. I started at customs, did the running around there, and then went to the port and did some more running around.

As long as the cars are coming in your name, you can clear it and do it yourself. Just lots of walking to do from place to place.

If you find a car, check the local prices of the same car and then do the math and include customs. I already owned the cars so it was better to bring them then to sell and then buy something here. I paid around $7,000 on one car and $10,000 on another. Still worth it in IMO.

7,000$ shipping on one car and 10,000$ on the other.
Add them up and then it becomes the price of a new car!

Why go through all the hassle?
Thanks for the info!

@AVOlio 7000$ includes shipping/jemrok/tva (beezer please correct me if I'm wrong)
to answer Why go through all the hassle?
to save money. Car dealers buy cars online, ship them to Lebanon, pay all fees, then add $$ to the total cost for profit.
if you can do this process, why buy from a car dealer and lose money?
@AVOlio, as sero is right. Includes customs fees.
Yea @beezer
I mean, whatever those fees were, they total 17,000$.
That's the price of a new car.

So again, if it was me, I would have bought a new car and wouldn't have gone through the hassle.

But I mean if your case is special, like for example you do not want to live any longer on the coutry where you shipped your cars from, then of course you need them here.
