  • Shall I Grab a 1080ti now or wait for Volta

~ Volta is delayed again to Q2 2018 at least and I am very annoyed from waiting .

~ The MSI Gaming X 1080ti is for USD 830 and the Asus Strix 1080ti for USD 900 ( With 3 years warranty from MEIT with an easy RMA)

~ The Volta / Pascal has the same chip size to shrink like Maxwell to Pascal , therefore I donot think their will that huge junp in performance but again who knows the upcoming 2170 might the 1080ti like performnace as the Nvidia trend ( 980ti ~ 1070 and 780ti ~ 970).

~ If I get the 1080ti my next upgrade will be the volta ti as a regular update ti to ti.

~ Grabbing a 1080ti from outside might be less added to shipment , customs , vat I will at with price at most 15 % lower than current 1080tis in the local market but without any warranty added to the hustle of an rma of anything happened.

These are current thoughts , your input is apprecaited.
Update:

I got the Asus 1080ti Gaming Strix OC Yesterday For USD 930 which relatively a high price but the price the good. Amazon selling it for USD 819 compared to Lebanon price 930USD with VAT it is not that bad

Knowing that there are two variants of the Asus 1080ti strix , 11G & O11G both OC but the O11G has more OC. Macrotronics is selling the 11G for USD 930.

Due To memory shortage Nvidia graphic cards prices started to increase this month

http://wccftech.com/nvidia-graphics-cards-see-price-increases-starting-month-due-memory-shortage/
NAND shortage hitting everything, expected to last till the end of 2018
There is no NAND in video card(except tiny amount in some cases), memory shortage for GPU is GDDR
NAND is about SSD

Correction: Manufacturers focusing their memory production on more profitable flash storage (NAND) instead of GDDR.

Everything memory is made from the same things.

Update:

Just Got the Asus 1080ti Gaming Strix OC (O11G) model from Microcity @ 930 USD, 10 days ago. I upgraded from 1070 Gaming X , strong tangible difference.

I linked to my UHD 55 inch HDR TV to test some HDR Gaming "meanwhile" until the release of the PG 35VQ.

BF 1 Ultra TAA on 2160p ~ 89 fps , Resolution Scaling= 100%
Watch Dogs " Ultra , Very High , High Settings" with HBAO + on 2160p without AA ~ 60 with dips to 50 on high traffics , no micro stutter due to memory bandwidth of the 1080ti ( 484 kb/sec).
Resident Evil 7 , Hitman Ultra with AA locked 60fps.

Some Gaming

BF 1 Ultra , TAA, 2160p - Resolution Scaling = 100%

Watch Dogs 2:

*Note: In Watch Dogs 2 I used Normal V sync Mode , It does not cap farm rate , rather it is Ubisoft of adaptive Sync, about 10 Fps it lost but is remove tearing.

Bro what bridge are you using for SLI?

My friend upgraded from SLI 980Ti to SLI 1080Ti and we haven't seen noticeable improvement in Total Warhammer (he mostly plays that game). We used the flex SLI bridge that came with the motherboard and suspect that we might need the new high bandwidth bridge announced by Nvidia.
