I was pretty convinced to get a Seagate Barracuda 3Tb these two days from Microcity or Pcandparts, but some people are saying the 3tb version of Seagate is bad, but it looks like they are confusing the new 008 with the old 001 which had known hardware problems.
Anyone bought this model and got problems?
Seagate don't have good reviews online. Even read an article about a guy that works with a lot of HDDs reporting Seagate have the highest failure rate.
I prefer WD
I have absolutely no trust in consumer grade Seagate drives
I can understand about the old model being defective because Seagate messed up something in it but are the new ones also doomed?
On Amazon all HDD have failure rate and WD Blue and Red which are acceptable as price are 5400rpm only.
I don't think seagate is a bad brand, I have a 7 years old and a 10 years old Seagate HDDs that are still running without any bad sector. But dunno if the new models of 3tb are reliable
I have found a Hitashi 2TB 7200rpm, it looks like they are rock solid, but what about performance?
I have one. Been serving me for 6 months with no trouble at all.
Why don't you get and an SSD and relax. I know it's more expensive but isn't it worth it?
Absolutely! Don't get them.

We use Lacie Big8 DAS that come with 8 x Seagate 3TB consumer grade hdds. They all failed within the same year. We only write data to them for 1 hour per day, yet they failed. Get WD Black drives. Those are rock solid
WD black are 50% more expensive too.
Are all your 8 Seagate ST3000DM001 or ST3000DM008?
The HGST 2tb from Macrotronics a good unit or too old?
