I am probing to purchase a 12000 BTU air conditioner , what is your recommendation for a reliable brand. Khoury has the red week and I visited the show room.
Samsung made in Thailand
Panasonic is more expensive but made in Malaysia.
Mitsubishi as a word of mouth seem a strong reliable brand.
LG ArtCool design is very attractive , but what about reliability ?
Both Have a 5 year warranty on the compressor and 1 year on the fan. I heard that the Samsung Inverter model is made in Korea and is energy efficient. Khoury ends it red week on the 12th of August and on ACs they have a 22% price discounts.
Thank You

I recommend DAIKIN (abed tahan, not available at khoury home)
They are more expensive, but (from my experience) are by far better than other ACs.

I recommend AIRWELL, best AC ever. They have a system called Yaz, it allows to install up to 5 indoor units all running with a single outdoor unit

Gree is a very reputable brand, if you can get the inverter model, will cost more but the power effiency is a good addon.

Regardless of brand you need to buy something that fits your needs.
Ask the following questions and get definitive answers.
When the electricity cuts off and hopefully the generator starts (or vice versa)
will the AC shutdown? Might be a good thing "eza bt tekk el se3a" might be an awful thing "eza bte7mlo el se3a" and u have to manually turn it on again.
If the AC will start automatically after a power outage, will the settings remain? By settings I mean fan power, temperature and most importantly air flow louver (the one you set with the swing settings). This is important for good night sleeps if the AC is above your bed for example.
Finally I do not recommend buying systems where the "air flow louver" opens from the bottom to the top example: Samsung Triangle.
Because no matter how u fix the air direction it gonna go straight down. So buy a system that opens from top to bottom.

Don't have a real recommendation but if you have 'ishtirak', take a look at the power consumption. We have an 18000 BTU AC that uses 5.8 amps for cooling (Gibson IIRC), and several 12000 BTU AC's that use almost the same amount. I think you should be able to find some AC's that use below 4.5 now.
Also, depending on the size of the room and other factors, you may be able to sneak in a 9k or 10k btu AC in there instead or may need more if you have say, a west facing wall. Just make sure you are getting what you need for the area you want to cool.

I bought a 2 Samsung non-inverter Triangle 9000 BTU from Khoury Home last year for $400 each (installed) and they are still working flawlessly until today. Enjoy your purchase.

Tech Guru, how many amps does it need for cooling?

On intial operation the Samsung 12000 BTU it needs about 5.5 Amps, which is the max the ac needs especially for inverters since it quickly cools then the compressor uses the digital modulation which consumes much less.

They seem decent especislly the triangle design pushes a lot of air even on low fan speed (comfort or single modes) since the vents are big.

In my experience Trane is the way to go, they are more expensive than other brands but will last a lot longer than the mainstream ones

In my own experience, LG air conditioners are very reliable. We have an 18000 BTU LG at home, it's simply awesome. We installed it 5 years ago, no maintenance has been done since then, and it's operating flawlessly. It's very powerful, and it only uses 5.5 amps!!

I had a bad buy, got a Campomatic 19000BTU, it consumes around 9Amps, yeah it cools but that is a lot of usage, I didn't check specs well before buying and the seller said it consumes 7amps, lesson learned, next time I'll choose wisely.
Edit: Price was 600$
