Thanks for the input
chosen2k wroteNever looked into e-bikes. I suppose it needs a good battery and what i learned about batteries is that shipping one here is near impossible.
I've heard of this, but how come? For batteries I will go with decent lead-acid batteries until I can make my own pack from 18650 cells.
nuclearcat wroteAt south i've seen some, but its more "e-motor" or how it is called in Lebanon.
DIY, there is many on russian websites, but you need to know russian to read their manuals :(
I've been dealing with Chinese datasheets for a while now, russian docs should be no problem : p
Mero55 wroteHey!
Well, motorcycles were banned in Saida a long while ago, and so people started to gradually use e-bikes as they're not considered as vehicles officially and have the same agility ( and annoyance to others) as motorcycles. So if you're interested there's more than a few e-bike shops in Saida, and I guess you'd be able to get some parts from them.
As to building it, I haven't built one myself(yet - I plan to do an 'e-board' soon though) but I've been over several designs. Though it's technically a hack, I'd recommend you put your motor where the pedals are as you'll be able to maintain the gear system which can come in handy here in Lebanon.
Hope it helps!
Keep us updated!!!
Can you please point me to those shops? I was thinking about shipping a kit from china, the cheapest I found was around $130, but I expect to pay another $50 for tax/customs on this 6Kg package.
About the placement, I'm thinking about linking the motor on the main chain with a freewheel, that way I'll be able to use the gear system and still be able to pedal when I'm out of batteries. Disk brakes will be needed since it will mostly be used on hills.
