Hi everyone ,so I did the LU engineering entrance exam and failed. Now I want to see the other opportunities open for me.
I have one of 2 choices:
1-Do computer science in LU faculty of science.
2-Do computer engineering in a private university.
So,my question is which is better? For option 1, I heard I can do 3 years of computer science then switch to a private university adn do engineering for 3 more years.
For the other option, which university do you suggest apply to or the universities that still have the admission open?I was thinking maybe LIU.
Also,I plan to continue doing masters in germany,I have 2 brothers there.I was wondering if there is any difference applying to a university in germany from any university in lebanon.

My advice to you , if you can afford very good universities ( aub, usj, ndu etc ) do it here .AUB engineering graduates have advantages over other students from other unis.If you can't afford it here , look into Europe , Germany has a very good technical university among the best in the world ( free tuition ) but it's hard , and i think admission is closed .My friend is studying at Charles University in Czech Republic , Prague ( which is also among the best in Europe for medical studies and engineering),also there is another technical Uni which is the best for sciences (ranked same as USJ and better than LAU according to latest ranking) also good and cheap in Prague .Charles is very good and affordable .( some parliament members graduated from there also Ban Ki-moon graduated from there). There are several options in Europe , if you do your search , you would be surprised how much cheaper Europe is comparing to Lebanon new shittyy universities that charges 8000 to 10000 $ a year ,besides the life experience you get from there .
PS:all these universities are hard once you get in.
If you can't travel , stick to computer science in LU , you would learn the same if not better than LIU (which is not dirt cheap ).

I agree with Fadi. Try the top unis in lebanon, and if you can't leave

Hey!
Oh boi, have an extremely similar story.
I would suggest you look at universities the way you should: as an opportunity.
LU is a really good university in the sense that its graduates are highly skilled and well-knowledged BUT have you seen their community? Research is almost dead. Extracurricular activities are close to null. Even if there were activities, I doubt you'll hv time as they'll overwhelm u with studies.
Now look at other well-known top universities in Lebanon like AUB, and you'll see that they're known for their social activities and initiatives, their competitions and more importantly, their vibrant community.
Both universities will give you a degree, but one will give you better, and more thoughtful experiences than the other. One will give opportunities for self-development and improvement while the other will barely do so.
When comparing universities think of the opportunities they offer (not the degree) and how will that help you reach your goal.
Now ofcourse, we don't all have the privilege to attend the universities we want, so if u didn't get into whichever university u choose don't be overly dramatic/disappointed. Even though communities really matter and help you get where u want in life, you can still do it without them if you *really* want to.
So my suggestion after all this?
Check for a private Uni that offers better opportunities, if that doesn't work out revert to LU as a backup plan.
Whichever happens, DM and I might be able to introduce you to some friends!
Best of Luck!
