Hi guys I got this oneplus 5 as an upcoming present to a friend of mine. I guess he's very lucky to be the first one to own this phone in Lebanon =D

I'm really considering one plus 5t as my new main phone.
Do you recommend it guys?
And how do I actually get it here?
I've watched that already which is why I started to think about the oneplus 5 hehe.
I want to try something new, I've been a Samsung note fan since the note 2, I have a note 4 now, and as much as I'd love to have the note 8, I still want to try something new.

Still though any idea where can I get one of these?

Wait a few weeks (probably after new year), and you should be able to order through aliexpress, or better yet if you have friends or family in the UAE, through souq.com (owned by amazon btw. I guess you could order it on Amazon now, but it may take a while.

I have been looking seriously at this phone too and love the Iphone x bashing because of it. Apple must not be happy now.

I got the 3T. And will hold on to it until it stops turning on!

In case anyone is interested, I saw that oneplus 5t is being sold at phonefinity--the 8/128 version for $690. I see them on gearbest for anywhere between $570 to $750, so not enormously overpriced (same version sells on amazon for close to $600).
130$ more expensive than from the OnePlus website.
I'd rather add another ~100$ and get the note 8!

The whole point of deciding to switch to Oneplus for me was to switch to a decent 500$ range phone.

Exactly this!

As much as I would like to get my hands on a 5T, being one of the first Oneplus 1 owners in Leb, it doesn't make any sense buying it online or from here. It's wayyy too overpriced!
This phone has nearly made every Top 5 smartphones video by top youtubers, and that's for one reason: Value for money.
At 700$ we can get much better phones , and more supported phones/spareparts/etc. like samsungs, iphones, sonys, LGs, etc.

The8/128 at 550$ I would get it in a heartbeat!
Yes was going to pull the trigger but 690$ is too much
Yeah--the price point is a little high for here and that puts in competition with others like the LG V30+. S8+, Huawei Mate 10 pro, HTC U11+ and others who offer other things like water/dust resistance, better cameras, wireless charging and better screens. It is significantly less than the Pixel 2's and Apple products, but iphone people will buy iphones no matter what and if you can afford the Pixel, you will just get it.

If the price were down to the $600 range, it would be an easier decision.
gamer4life wrote What about customs? How much extra would I pay?
Hey, you should ask someone who orders phones from AliExpress. I never tried it before.
15 days later
i bought oneplus 3T like a year ago from aliexpress
and shipped it via DHL it came after 5 days
i paid approximately 60$ customs fees for DHL
they tell me you are lucky because the customs estimates the price of your phone 200$ and the original price was 460$
the seller write that's the price is 100$ but i think they didn't believe it obviously
so it's a matter of luck maybe if i shipped it via liban post i wouldn't pay customs because i know people that didn't pay customs for a phone
This is so funny, I've been seriously researching my next phone for the past two days now. I have short listed three phones (Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, and 5T).

The 5T looks the nicest at first (especially since I can't find the blue Mate 10 Pro) and the size is also better for my hands on usage (personal preference again). I however am still reluctant on getting it, price points aside.

First we're talking aluminum body compared to the glass body of the Mate 10.
No dust/splash or waterproof protection
It is not Android Oreo out of the box (meaning you may not get the next big update until much later)
Because it's not on Oreo, the OxygenOS (1+ version of Android) is still based on the old version of Android
No Optical Image Stabilization (it does have a better front camera though)
Newer bluetooth but USB 2.0 type C (this part I was like, wtf?)
No step/stairs counter (I actually find a usage for that as I walk my dog a lot)
The quietest loudspeakers out of the bunch
Worst battery life out of the bunch (Mate 10 Pro is superior to anything on the market)

So in the end, I'm now at the point of shortlisting the Mate 10 vs Mate 10 Pro.
Problem is the 5/5T will cost a lot in Lebanon to the extent where it doesn't make sense anymore!
It was supposed to be a budget phone (<550) and it will still cost 650+ to get new.
At that price, a Galaxy S8, a mate 10, and HTC U11 and lots of other phones would make more sense, UNLESS the performance, and only performance is your TOP priority, which in that case you should definitely grab that 5/5T.

Now to answer OP questions, please check the other threads (Aliexpress or overseas shipping etc.) where I have listed my recent experience in detail. In short, it will not end up well; customs fees and other taxes will be more than a 100$ at least in case of the 5T.

I am not sure if you would consider buying it from Amhaz but the Mate 10 is going for $545 there whereas the Pro is going for $680. It's a significant price difference so read enough reviews and I'm sure you'll reach the right decision.
Honestly too scared to buy it from there with all the mixed reviews, I might take the plunge and get the pro from 3gleb.
