I am currently in a dilemma to invest in a new gaming monitor , but he is the catch that Asus / Acer announced new monitors that they will be released in Q3 2017 with quantum dot technology and HDR which I witnessed in Samsung KS 2016 series and qLed 2017 series , awesome technology.

Currently I am Interested in the PG279QR

1440p
27inch
165hz (OC)
TN
G-SYNC™

The PG279Q is the IPS variant (which frankly I like IPS over TN more regardless of the 1ms on TN vs 4 ms on the IPS response time)

Asus announced the

PG27VQ

2560x1440 resolution that supports refresh rates up to 165 Hz and uses quantum dot technology. Combined with an ultra-bright LED backlight, that qualifies this monitor as HDR-ready. It also supports G-Sync - I guess it will not be HDR 10 compatible only Quantum Dot

PG35VQ

35 inch, Ultra-WQHD, HDR, 21:9 Curved, 200Hz,
G-SYNC™

Any one using a 21:9 aspect ratio via an ultra wide monitor , what is you actual experience in that.

Finally PG27UQ
3840×2160 , HDR , Quantum Dot , 144hz , G-SYNC™

I know the PG27UQ will cost around USD 2000 upon release and much in Lebanon which is a high investment but the
PG35VQ and PG27VQ seem to be tempting? Shall I wait or Grab a PG279QR (Some one is selling a used one by 600 USD one month of usage and it is still under 2 years and 11 months of warranty)

Note: I am sticking with ASUS sine it is available in Lebanon and MEIT is giving a 3 years of warranty.

Thank You

Hey bro can you give a list of prices of the available ones in Lebanon?
pg278q
pg279q
pg27uq (my guess is 2500, 3000 if imported through borderlinx, but 4k isn't much of a difference over 2k)
pg35vq
pg27vq (I'm probably getting this one)
Definitely wait ofr the pg27vq and the pg35vq and grab one. It's just a couple of months left.

Iam in the same boat as you , I have been gaming on a 4k HDR TV since January just to experience what HDR is all about with the wide color gamut , high brightness , and deep blacks. A Truely Immersive expereince especially on:

Injustice 2 , Mass Effect: Andromeda , Hitman , Horizon Zero Dawn , Resident Evil 7 , Froza 6 .... A truely immersive expereince and HDR is not "Hype" I consider a step forward and revolutionary in the gaming experience. Sure Adding Quantum Dot , Gsync , and 144hz on a 21:9 wide monitor (3440 × 1440p) or 1440p or 2160p will make this experience much enjoyable.

Pg279q is not available anymore here and the pg278q is replaced by pg278qr ( a refreshed version) that costs around 850 USD with a 3 years official asus warranty from MEIT. I have my eyes on the Pg35vq since the Pg 27vq has Quantum Dots but it will not support HDR ( it will not accept a 10bit HDR signal) as I noticed from my research.

@ USD 1000 you will get a minimum HDR experience but its fine , to have a great HDR Experience as Ultra HDR Premium HDR TV you will cross 1600 USD Easily (KS 8000 , KS 9000 , Q7F , Sony x900e , x930 e .... ) If you can ship from Amazon KS 7000 is a great affordable Option with UHDR Premium Certification but sadly not available here.

Samsung KU 7000 / MU 7000 (No Difference KU = 2016 Model & MU = 2017 Model)

Not All the Sonys x850d , x850e , x900e , x930d , x930e , x940e accept 1080@120hz which is a nice upgrade on the majority of tvs that are locked on native 60hz. If you are a gamer that is a strong add.
