Hello all,
I'm looking into buying a phone from OLX.
I want to take caution with making sure that the phone is not stolen.
Usually I rely on the following queues.
1) I wouldn't buy a phone without its box (also make sure that the serial number on the box is the same as the phone). It's less likely that the phone was stolen if they have the box.
2) If they have a warranty. They would most likely provide the receipt of the purchase. I usually ask for ID and this usually legitimizes the entire purchase.
I'm currently talking to someone selling a phone at a very good deal (70$ less than the average used price) and he's claiming to have had it for 2 months.
Is there any way I can know if this phone is stolen? Would Alfa/MTC provide such information? What queues do you guys usually rely on when buying a phone?
