Hi,
I recently bought audio engine a2+ on olx, and they worked absolutely fantastic for the first couple days. Then i started noticing a little bit of noise (possibly that it was there from the day i bought them, and possibly that this is a main issue with active speakers.) so i found a guy claiming to fix them buy turning them on and off a few times, so after trying that they sadly never turned on again.
Please note that the speakers were absolutely as clean as new, and the guy ordered them from amazon using Aramex since they are not available here (they actually charged him for 200$ additional for taxes on boarders... but after some time of his decision of not paying the taxes and leaving them they contacted him again and he got them, for no or little charge.)
I went to electro al yaman (electronics repair shop located in Saida near dawwar el qods) and after testing them they told me that the trance (aka adapter) has been damaged and it sent excess voltage to the speakers which fried the whole board. That was an absolute shock for me as I still didn't even try them enough... :(
So after thinking about possible solutions I came up with the following:
1) Taking them to another electronics repair shop seeking for a new hope that what the man at electro el yaman told me is in correct. And that it is actually fixable here. (as i first thought it would be a fuse, but it seems like they doesn't even have one.)
2) Since these came with 3 years automatic warranty, I decided to give that a shot, and it turned out to have some decent hope. I was so happy with Audio Engine's customer service as it was absolutely fantastic. After some replies with the service guys I got that the warranty only works within the US, and they assured to me that :
"Once we receive your return and diagnose the issue we will either make the necessary repairs or send you a replacement. ".
And also that : "If they are unable to exchange the speakers and you have access to a US shipping address or there is someone in the States who could handle the service needs for you, we could provide warranty service. We are not able to do this directly back and forth to you because of import/export complications and such."
So regarding the second solution, what are the most efficient ways to ship those speakers to USA, and how much its going to cost. And I read about a return policy for Aramex, anyone knows any useful info about this since the guy shipped them via Aramex? And will I have to pay again boarder taxes when I ship them back to lebanon ?
