Hello lebgeeks, last month i subscribed to Alfa's 5GB mobile internet bundle and my ping to overwatch and dota 2 were between 85 and 105 didnt go higher, but when i got the same bundle this month it is giving around 125 ping in dota with a few lagspikes but everything is fine in overwatch. Any help?
3G/4G ping
i subbed to MTC's 4g, got around 120 with crazy lag spikes on BF1 every minute or so
it may be due to the mobile hotspot but i have no idea if getting a dedicated 4g router would fix the spikes, im fine with 100ms tbh i just couldnt get it even on 4g

Why don't you use USB tethering?Anthony2000 wrotei subbed to MTC's 4g, got around 120 with crazy lag spikes on BF1 every minute or so

what is that? do you mean the 4g usb dongles you can buy at alfa stores and plug in the pc for internet?anayman_k7 wroteWhy don't you use USB tethering?Anthony2000 wrotei subbed to MTC's 4g, got around 120 with crazy lag spikes on BF1 every minute or so

No, connecting your phone to your PC via USB and tethering it. It doesn't work on consoles though which I guess you're doing.
no im actually doing it on PC and this is the first time ive heard of this, thanks!Adnan wroteNo, connecting your phone to your PC via USB and tethering it. It doesn't work on consoles though which I guess you're doing.
Hi
I've been using Alfa 4G for more than a year, sometimes i switch to touch 4G but the speed and ping mostly are the same with an advantage for Alfa.
I have a 4G dongle connected to a TP-link wifi router to share the internet.
Over the past 2 months the Alfa 4G is terribly awful, download is about 2 Mbps at night (before was about 16 Mbps), it is not a problem from my side because this only happens at high traffic times (mostly at night), after midnight the download speed is very high.
Is someone else having the same problem?

I only use 4g for online gaming so i dont know about download speeds, but i noticed that ping is higher during the same time that u described, so high traffic might be the problem
4G is currently a work in progress again! LTE800 (4G+) is being deployed in the country so issues are expected because the network is still being expanded and will take some time to recalibrate/readjust again! Let's not forget that increasing the number of sites or upgrading the sites to 4G needs also upgrading the transmission network (backbones, HUBs, mini-links, etc...) so it needs some time.Mayyad wroteHi

a month later
I have been on 4G for the past 3 months (since dec 2016), never complained about any ping issue, or lowe speeds. Lowest speed i got was 8mbps both ways, that is during the afternoon and nights. then anything between 12-1 am and 12pm i'd usually get 40mbps both ways too.
latency was a stable 80ms. Honestly i think the 100GB/140$/month is quite good under our circumstances.
I am tethering 4G from my Iphone 6s plus, with 3 out of 5 reception bars/balls.
What's impressive is that say 6 months ago i'd barely get 3G in my room, which is underground and surrounded by trees. Now 4G is on in the whole house.

140$ for 100gbs... mobile data prices are still atrociously high. but it's lebanon so what am i expecting

Actually, looking at US Verizon and AT&T prices, this price is quite reasonable. Getting such data limits per month on a US network or UAE network would cost more than 300 dollars. Probably their connections are much more stable and of higher quality but from what I am reading in this thread, it looks like the connnection is good enough.
One caveat is that these countries offer high speed cable/DSL connections that are much more stable with much better quality than mobile plans connections.
I've been playing lately connected to my phone's hotspot (4g) and the experience has been awesome! Stable, fast and good ping (dunno the value but playing BF1 seems instantaneous as it should).

You can get a plan for 60$/month with no cap including calls and sms

That is true. But you should read the fine print that comes with "unlimited" plans. Most of these have a cap that if you exceed, your speeds will be cut to 128 kbps and sometimes operators would deprioritize your access. So the "unlimited" plans have their restrictions too.
I'm still using old SIM card so I only have 3G, the ping is not that wow, around 120ms when the ADSL can give me 100ms but I used to choose 3G because of stability, recently I changed the phone wiring and ADSL because stable, I'll try to replace SIM card to get 4G in the weekend and test if it will affect the ping.
