Locha Hello. I have a DSL connection and I would like to setup limits regarding Bandwidth usage for different users. What are the suggested routers which offer such an option in their QoS features and are available in the market? Is anyone of you using one nowadays? Thank you.
hkbazzi tp-link some models. Archer D5. Is what I use it when I was living with my family. Don't use it anymore :P
Adnan If you mean setting monthly quotas, I've been working on this with OPENWRT. For now, I'm able to monitor how much data every MAC address has used for each day. It will only count data transferred to the Internet during peak hours. And I'll soon develop a mean to make the cap monthly and block a user whenever he reaches a certain limit. If that's what you're interested in, I'll explain further.
xazbrat I have a cheapo Tenda router (50K I think) and you can limit/throttle any IP address both upload and upload as well as monitor the usage. If you can find some of the mid priced Linksys/Netgear routers, most of them have the capability of tracking and monitoring users by MAC address which is much more preferable. Or you can find a router which is ddwrt or openwrt compatible and configure it the way you wish, but I think that requires a bit more expertise.
Locha Thanks mates for the support. Any hints where I can find a Mikrotik router or a Tenda Router or which models you are using on which you are working on OPENWRT or DDWRT ?
amkahal you can find Mikrotik anywhere in lebanon. Locha wroteThanks mates for the support. Any hints where I can find a Mikrotik router or a Tenda Router or which models you are using on which you are working on OPENWRT or DDWRT ?

elserge82 TL-R470+ very easy to do traffic shaping based on ip and time. (You need to connect it to a wireless router )
