Hey guys,
I was wondering if I have a high performance SSD such as the Samsung Pro 850, will I get better IO performance if I plug it to a SATA 3 to PCIE adapter card? Couldn't find a definite answer online.
NVME PCIE SSDs are blazing fast; though I don't want to buy one as I already have an 850 and want to make the best of it.
Thanks for any replies

No you should not have any additional performance in my opinion, 2 factors are considered when checking such a thing, first the hardware port used (Sata3, M.2, PCIE) and the drive used controller, currently in the market there are M.2 drives that uses SATA3 controller so even on an interface with 10Gbps they cant perform more than 6Gbps (which is the Sata3 limit)

Yeh I just found similar answers. Very few companies make decent SATA3 to PCIE cards. Most reviewers complained that they got 25-40% performance loss compared to using onboard SATA3 ports.
Ah well. Though 2GB/s performance on a NVME 960 Pro is just too irresistible
