  • Thermaltake Toughpower Grand - mixed feelings

I have recently acquired most parts (Intel i7 6700, Gigabyte GTX 1060, SSD HyperX Savage among others...) for a new PC I am building (still waiting for the Noctua cooler and fans which might take several weeks as I ordered them from abroad).

Among the parts, I got the following psu Thermaltake Toughpower Grand 750W (http://www.thermaltake.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00001562) after checking many websites online which clearly state that the Toughpower series (above 600W) is Tier 2 and/or recommnended.

Now after checking user reviews on both newegg and amazon I was surprised there are a lot of negative ones (some people even saying the psu exploded and/or damaged other components). What gives ?

I have a thermaltake toughpower xt 1275w platinum.
Had it for 4 years. No problem so far.
Thank you for the reply Georges. I have always been under the impression that the "Toughpower" series is the best when it comes to Thermaltake psus. How many hours do you run your PC per day if you don't mind me asking ? I will be running mine around 13 - 14 hours per day at most. The psu is rated at a MTBF of 120,000hrs and has a Gold rating.

When I turn it on, I don't usually turn it off before around 11pm so it depends.
Sometimes I keep it running for 2-3 days.
my PC has been on since 2010 with some occasional reboots for maintenance. Running a tough power 1250W Gold.
i have a thermal take tough power 850w fully modular 80Plus Gold Certified - Been running on my system for 3 years in a raw - sturdy - I swapped Graphic Crads , SLI , Added Fans , Added Leds , OCing etc.. Very efficient and Stable. No reboots , No Restarts , No Fan Sound. System average operating hours about 9/day with heavy long hours of gaming and stress testing. I recommneded from my experience.
