Just to note, the pictures were taken from villages in Jbeil district.
Lately, something about the phone cabinets installed in certain streets across the country caught my eye. I noticed villages or areas that are far from the exchange have a white, flat metal cabinet as seen in picture #1. But, usually in cities or areas that are closer to the exchange, I noticed that they have completely different cabinets, non flat and grey colored as seen in picture #2 (also the locks are different). The reason why I'm asking about this is because in areas that have the box #1, they can't get high dsl speeds. For example In my village which has a box #1 installed in it, and is 3km far from the exchange, they don't allow me to get more than 512 KB speed (that is if they didn't give you 128 KB lol), but areas that have the box #2 can easily get good dsl speeds usually 6 MB and above as I noticed.
Also, i realized that some villages that are even farther away from the exchange than my village can get good speeds; they have the 2nd box installed across them, and they don't need to be close to the coast where usually the exchanges are at. But these villages have a large number of population, so maybe this is the reason why in some way the infrastructure there is better.
So is there a difference between these two boxes? are they responsible for getting certain speeds and do they affect attenuation and noise margin? And regardless if they do or not, does anyone know if the municipality can do something about this?
