  • souq.com jobs another prank?

So I keep having people calling me from ''souk.com'' for a ''training'' for a sales position while I don't remember sending them my CV, I checked over the internet for the Lebanese website and owner name but no luck, when I ask about salary and others stuff they say that all we be answered during the ''training''.
Is it me or it smells fishy like insurance job conferences where they take more from you than what is expected?
I am sick of prank job interviews, 2 months ago a known furniture gallery in Jounieh interviewed several guys and girls and in the end of each interview they claimed that there is a ''competition'' and whom give a good idea will get the job, the competition was to give an original marketing idea that will boost sales, in the end they collected several super good ideas from different candidates, no one was taken while this furniture gallery is using their free tailored made marketing ideas, and they ask me why I want to live this country...
So yes now I am very suspicious from job propositions like souq.com
souq.com is an Arab website mainly operating ins uae, ksa, and Egypt.
it is an restore, you can call it a very humble amazon for middle east.
but to my knowledge they don't operate in Lebanon so I think these people are using the name to trick you.

Yes it smells fishy, the first time the ''owner'' called me 6 months ago he said he will open this project soon like a month soon, he wanted me to fill a document by email, I never did it, they called me 2 months ago this time a girl saying they have a ''training'', I told her to call me back later, she never did. She called me yesterday to repeat the ''training'' registration thingy. I asked her where are the offices she said it WILL be in the Bristol hotel street. I feel this weird training sessions are just prank training and in the end they will ask money for the courses.
You know what? I will send an email to the uae website and ask them if they are opening a branch here.
But yeah it's already fishy that after all these months they still didn't develop their website, they have these trainings even before making an interview and the lady on the phone doesn't have a clue what are the salaries

Edit: I have found the website http://3alsouk.com/en/ it's exactly the same website for months
I don't know about 3alsouk, iif its been like that for months than yea pretty fishy.
Flakk wroteSounds fishy but I dont know i dont think it is, I just found this article today

https://www.engadget.com/2016/11/25/amazon-will-spend-1-billion-to-conquer-the-middle-east/

Amazon might buy souq.com and operate from there, lets hope we benefit from this.
As long as we have the most expensive customs it's worthless, unless they open a base in Lebanon and bring themselves the products without passing by Lebanese official dealers
This ''company'' is definitely shady, they don't want to give salary on the phone but after you do the training, and God knows what is this training for, they don't have a fixed land line which is the rule number 1 for a serious company, they call me from a 76***** number which is for a private dude and not in the name of 3alsouk (Truecaller). When they call you they don't give you details about the job waiting for you, they jump directly to the ''training'' reservation time.
Next time they call me I will tell them that as long they don't take me seriously by not giving me information about the job and salary I will not take them seriously
It's probably one of those sales positions that has 0 basic salary and you only get commission. I wouldn't bother unless you're absolutely desperate for a job.

I refused multiple times a sales job position at Insurance companies because of that and the commission was said to be amazingly high, but knowing me not being very ''laz2a'' to sell something like you are supposed to with these jobs I can't accept any job without a fixed salary

I think this is the kind of job you take when you can't find anything. It's still better than sitting at home doing nothing. I know people who had to venture into the insurance thing and actually did amazingly well. You're either a salesman or you're not
