Yea I know, it can be a pretty expensive hobby. But you can actually do a very decent job with a mid level dslr like the nikon d5500 or a canon rebel t6i if you pair them up with a newtonian telescope about 8"
As for the light pollution, I have a house located between jbeil and batroun and the sky is always clear with minimal light pollution when I go there during weekends.I can go to faraya as well.
I will probably buy the dslr either way,I want a camera.
As for the telescope, in lebanon they seem to cost about 1700$ I will see how it goes with the dslr first, then decide.
I have added 2 images that are taken with such a telescope and a nikon d5300. Ofcourse these are much lower quality and resolution than the originals, but they will give you an idea of what can be captured
