Hello,
I found a very old 320gb HDD and plugged it in to my desktop. I'd like to extract the data but the drive is really old (and maybe damaged) and opening folders takes REALLY long. They eventually open though, about 80-90% of the data seems readable.
Is there a software I can use to try to fix the HDD, or a software that will extract everything? I tried copy and pasting but it gives me a bunch of errors
Thanks

chkdsk /f /r C:
c: is the drive letter you wanna fix
Not sure if this is what are you are asking for (it's kinda newbie Q)

It's a newbie Q because I'm a newbie in this stuff. My hobby is being a geek not my job ;)
So today the machine wouldn't boot at all when I got home. Yesterday it took a long time to boot (after giving me a warning that a hard drive is corrupted) but today it wouldn't boot whatever I did. So I just plugged out the HDD. Thankfully I recovered some of the data I wanted yesterday :-) will get a dock to be able to plug it into USB and try chkdsk tomorrow. thanks.
