  • TV Shipping form Amazon

Dear Colleagues:

I am thinking of ordering Samsung KS 8500 from Amazon due to lack of availability at CTC , with no ETA from the sales team. Very interested in this TV of what it offers in Picture quality and Ultra Premium HDR certification with a reasonable price , very positive reviews , and more resilient compared to both LG and Sony 2016 offers.

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN49KS8000-49-Inch-Ultra-Smart/dp/B01D98AQ30#Ask

I need to create an Amzon.com Account
Pay through Credit Card
Create a BorderLinx Account for a USA Postal Address / Use it in Amazon Shipment
Shipment Arrives to BorderLinex - I released
Arrives to Lebanon - DHL Will Handle it

I am I correct about the Logic ?

Product Weight with a Shipping Container: 19 Kilos (Shipping Weight Samsung Name It on Specification Sheet)
Product Weight: 14 Kilos
Dimension with a Shipping Container (WXHxD) = 118.618cm X 72cm X 17.3cm (Shipping Size as Samsung Name It on Specification Sheet)

Questions (From Your Experience) :

Logistics:

Does BorderLinx Handle Such Weights and Dimensions?
Does DHL Handle All the Custom Clarence + DHL to Me when the Item Arrives? Or I need to go and handle this mess?
When I shall Pay for BorderLinx Fees and How Through Credit Card?
When I Shall Pay for DHL?

Fees:
The TV is Listed on Amazon at 1097.99USD

How Much in Total arrived to my door will cost me :

The Listed TV Price is Net or I need to Add Taxes too (USA)
How Much BorderLinx Will Take?
How Much DHL Will Take?
Customs and VAT?

Total Expected Price arrived to my home door and ETA to me.

Thank You

Note: If any one can through the whole process (enthusiast about Ordering from Outside / Amazon and know the tricks and not to fall in any pitfall ) on my behalf , I can pay him extra expenses fees , we can seal a deal no problem but with a guaranteed process.
Its a huge risk in my opinion. Regardless of what ypu will end paying, shipping such large expensive items is risky. They may end getting banged on the way and since you are purchasing it from abroad, I am not sure if the warauntee would be covered locally.

Regardless, you should call DHL and ask whether or not they handle such large items. If they do, you will end paying on delivery the whole amount (customs). You may need to pay handling and shipping before hand.

Customs wise, expect 15% or so on your item. And as far as I know, this will apply to the price pf the item in Lebanon. Not sure about that though.

Anyways, I wouldn't advise getting it from there. Wait until it comes out in Lebanon so that the dealer would deal with all that stuff.
It will cost you a good amount, keep in mind DHL will charge you on volumetric weight in case the item's volumetric weight is above 25 Kg, check this link to see how they calculate it:
http://www.borderlinx.com/en/pages/faq/volumetric-weight
In your case, your item weighs 14 Kilograms however due to its huge dimension you will definitely be charged for its volumetric weight and if you calculate it according to the link I gave you, the volumetric weight is 35.5 Kg so you will pay shipping for 36 Kg (423 $) instead of 14 Kg (215 $).
Then you have the custom clearance ... if the item value exceeds 1000$ it needs custom clearance (the fee I believe is 100$ for this).
Then you have VAT and customs.
You will probably end up paying 650-750$ for DHL at your doorstep.

If you want an accurate quotation send an email www.iship.me (sales@iship.me), these are Borderlinx competitors (Along with Aramex etc ...), however the good thing with iship is that they can provide you with a detailed quotation in advance, you will get a better idea, just send them the link and tell them you want that shipped to Lebanon ... how much will it cost.

Edit: not to mention the possibility of the product being DOA, or getting damaged in transit.
Buy similar from ctc for the sake of the warranty if anything happens..i don't advise you shipping it to Lebanon, you will get awful surprises and end up by paying double..
20-25% for customs on the TV price + its delivery!!
I echo what's already been said. Best to forget this.
Vegetaleb what about clearance and TVA?

The 20-25% include TVA, clearance and 10% custom taxes

Thank You For Your Fruitful Input:

1- Shipping from Dubai through DHL will borne the same expenses and efforts , or it will be a easier procedure?
2- No one (who is an enthusiast / veteran about offshore electronics shipment and custom clearance is willing to ship for me and complete this process , and I will pay him sure ;)
3- Nothing is Similar to the KS8500/8000 Series at CTC , they have the KS9000 Series which is 55 inch (I need a 49 inch) , being offered at 2500 USD (bit expensive) - the KS 8500 offers a similar image quality and comes at a 49 Inch size. If someone is close to CTC can hint from an inside source if this version will come to Lebanon or has an ETA // every one is saying to me wait for Christmas Vacation , but that is not guaranteed too , skeptics here and there. (In Dubai it is available).
All right, if it available in Dubai (and you know someone there), why not fly down to Dubai, buy it, and bring it back with you as checked luggage. Even if you had to pay extra fees for luggage, it would still be cheaper than shipping it and other customs and other fees, even if you include the price of you ticket down there. I would check with the airline you are flying and see if they will allow something like that and I would probably wrap the TV in blankets or other padding to make sure it got here in one piece.

I just checked really quickly and qatari airlines will give you 300 cm dimension to take on board (heigth+width+depth), Just check on what it would be on Emirates or whatever airline you choose.

Most airlines have a policy when shipping TV's. The limit was 32" few years back. Tech Guru, ask Emirates airlines and MEA. Get the proper dimensions of the TV packaging (you'll find it in Samsung's manual files).

But this is only 1 part of the problem.

Assume you were able to carry the TV, check it in as luggage, survive the trip without getting thrown here and there, you still need to get it through customs when you arrive to Lebanon. Dubai doesn't care what you take with you when you leave it, it's the country you arrive to that doesn't like what you're carrying.

Now there is a very good chance that you can slip it through customs by flying back to Lebanon after midnight (you must arrive to Lebanon after 12:00AM). Customs tend to be non existent that time.

I usually book to arrive to Lebanon after midnight to avoid customs (this is how i was able to carry tons of electronics back into Lebanon)
