  • about the new 10xx series ?

Hi , I just wanted to ask in a brief way , should I buy an gtx 1070 now ? or wait for like a week ? if its a 20$ difference it would be worth it since I am on a very tight budget .
Posting soon about my future budget PC but for now I'm eyeing on a zotac 1070 for 439$ + vat , should I take it or wait ? also I noticed its the cheapest 1070 there ( at pcandparts.com ) and it doesn't have a link ? could it be a FE (founders edition ) ? because I wanna avoid the FE due to the lower quality ( also theoretically higher price ) . So what do you think ? I can wait for 2 weeks max since I cant waste more time on the PC and my budget wont go up anymore , also god I'm thankful I didn't get the 970 . much thanks !

ow they just replaced it - or at least changed it's name - from buck pack OEM( I think ) to Premium pack , now as the code name says , this 1070 has 3 fans , am I right ? are 3 fans a good thing ? Do you recommend it for that price ?

I don't think waiting will help at all .. also the 1070 is for 144Hz at 2k gaming or 60HZ at 4k .. if you have a 1080 60hz monitor go for the 1060 it is by any means a monster for 1080 games and expected to stay on that place for 2-3 years.. and in my personal experience you will never see better prices than these in lebanon

Nope - the 1070 struggles on 2k to tip above 60 fps on some AAA titles even similar trend with the 1080 on 2160p , quick reality examples :


For a 1080p/60Fps and "future proofing" for me I will go with a 1070 OC and not 1060 OC , if you decided to go with a 1060 OC go with the 6GB Vram not the 3GB Vram ! , as more titles with AAA High/Very textures are acceding the 3GB Vram easily even at 1080 p , more to come in 2017 and on., also 1080p requires at least 2xMSAA (for me 4x MSAA) which adds an over head + shadows + tessellation + global illumination etc..

Are three AAA released titles that barely hit 60Fps on 1080p even with a 1070 OC.

Also

Mafia 3 , Froza Horizon 3 , Rise of Tomb Raider Maxed you struggle on 2k (both 1070 and 1080).

Games will be more demanding therefore saying "2-3 years" future proofing is exaggerated.

I would go with 1060 but it doesnt support SLI , in the other hand the 1070 would allow me to add another card after a year or so
also gtx1070 is perfect for 4k , it doest "struggle" on 2K , and I know what games you meanv ,
and Im planning to get a 1080p monitor for now, a month later ill get a 4k one , and after awhile ill be completing my ultimate setup by having 2 1080p monitors on the sides ( 22"- 24" ) and a 4k one in the middle ( maybe a bigger one idk - any thoughts ?)
Well well, first lets talk about the choice, if the price of the what-so-called OEM Zotac GTX1070 which is a blower design card fits your tight budget then go for it, but if you play at 1080p and you don't see yourself updating to 1440p monitor in the next 2 years, well I guess a good cooled GTX1060 is better for you, I own a GTX1060 6GB AMP and it won't break a sweet at 1080p, I used to have a R9 380 2GB and I used to set graphics on Ultra with AA off, now all graphic settings are on MAX, No current game of stuff I play can challenge it (waiting for Battlefield1, which could force me turn off AA)

To round up, ask yourself what games you play, at what resolution in the next 3 years, if the GTX1060 is good for you for the next 3 years it means the GTX1070 is good for the next 6 years if it survives (do not forget the 3 years warranty of Zotac which is a plus)

I didn't say it before, and could say it again, SLI is not an upgrade, SLI is waste of wattage and a big door to problems with unsupported games, stuttering, and so on, in future you can sell your used graphic card, add extra money and buy the latest. POINT A LA LIGNE

okay lets say Im with you on this one , do you still recommend the 1060 if I tell you that my monitor setup would be 3 22 inch 1080p ? and maybe I will replace the middle one with a 27" 4k monitor , or maybe I might game on a 4k 50 inch tv with 1 or 2 1080p 22" on the side for multitasking

I placed my estimation on the word = Very Tight Budget.

If you want to run such a monitor setup - in my opinion - you have 3 options:
1- 2xGTX1070 in SLI (and risk its issues), and when you switch the middle monitor you need to lower your graphic settings
2- GTX1080 and lower the graphics, and when you switch the middle monitor you will need to slap another one in SLI (and risk its issues)
3- Titan XP
4- Wait for GTX1080Ti and see what performance it can give

Note: when you said triple monitors I supposed you will use them all to game (3*1920x1080 resolution)

All of these options are not considered very tight budget :)

I think you got the wrong message .. umm ... gaming on a 4k monitor was proven to be leaded by the gtx1070 with the frames beating the gtx980ti at 4k . a triple monitor setup is 3k ( 1080p x 3 ) , so the gtx1070 would be more than fine and should deliver around 90 fps (80fps for 4k on the toughest games ) ,,okay what if we do 6k ( 4k and 2 1080p ) ? that would theoretically give us around 50-60 fps ... seems good to me

I'm not sure where you got your numbers from but here is tomshardware review for the GTX 1070, starting with the first page with benchmarks, 1440p and 4k

Are you still sure about your 90fps thing!

Finally I saw your second post, If your budget only fits a GTX1070 I surely recommend to get it, you don't have much choice, get the better cooled version (AMP), turn off AA, lower the settings a little bit to find the sweet spot.

oh wow , you did alot of work there .. tnx I appreciate your effort ... but the AMP! version is a no go for me since the price is 20$ more than the 2 439$ gtx1070 versions . do you still recommend it ? you can visit pcandparts.com and see the 3 cards .. Im having trouble knowing how they look like since the vga links of most of them are misleading , the 3 are from ZOTAC.

My recommendation is, if pcandparts can confirm that "3- Zotac ZT-P10700F-10P" is a 3xfan card and if your case can fit it (case with removal hdd cage or full tower) this is the best price/performance/cooling option, the second option is "1- Zotac ZT-P10700G-10M", it is cheaper than the Blower design and should cool better.

Two of my friends purchased the Zotac AMP! Extreme Edition (1070 and 1080) and both are "sagging" like s..t due to mass heavy tank alike plate and the card mass shape. My recommendation was and will always be:

MSI , ASUS , and Gigabyte.

bro you just gave me the information that I thought I will never be able to find , but for pcandparts,com , their customer service is crap , I wish I could share their reply for the email I sent them , I asked them to get someone who actaully reads and understands , after spending a good amount of time composing my questions and arranging them , they replied with like 7 words and asked to call for more information ,, funny thing is that I sent them the email because the operator asked me to send them my questions in an email letter ,,, anyway ill try to talk to a person who actaully understand my questions ,,, but so far the zotac premium is my best bet if it had 3 fans
I have an asus GTX 1070 dual with 2 fans, and it does not overheat, I even overclocked it and put it through very painful situations(increasing power allowance etc...) And it did not cross 75 degrees at the most, and I never had to kick the fans to 100% manually or anything.

Just in case that helps, you do not necessarily need 3 fans...
