Tech Guru wroteThe PG279Q is a bad investment now to buy it , Asus just announced Asus ROG Swift PG27VQ using a curved panel with Quantum Dot technology (HDR 10 with Gsync 2) and 165hz refresh rate 2k resolution. Quantum dot , like the Samsung high end KS Series TVS, tip 1000 nits of brightness , < 0.05 nits of blacks , and a wide color gamut covering more than 85% of the P3 color space. HDR is the next move in gaming that gives more color depth and more immersive experience. I tried on my TV linked to a 1070 that outputs a 10bit HDR signal totally immersive and nice experience. Gsync 2 in VQ model will reduce input lag since HDR adds more processing on 2k and 4k signals.
It's the PG27UQ by the way. I totally agree when it comes to this new technology it's beyond belief an upgrade to what we have now!
That being said, I have a project for you Tech Guru, try to find a GPU without going SLI that is capable of pushing a 3 monitored surround of these bad boys. Until the GTX 20XX comes out I doubt anyone would decently push these to the limit. Think of it this way with 165HZ you should have an average of 165fps to take advantage of such technology even with Gsync 2. I'm trying to plan a triple screen setup for simracing all ran on a single GPU capable of 140+ fps @1440p.
Since we are on the subject of Monitors, would it be successful to hybrid the surround setup? like using PG278Q on the sides with PG279Q in the middle. I'm aware that the PG278Q is a TN panel but it's ok since it will be mounted at a 45-degree angle to the middle panel. The GPU in mind is either the Aorus 1080Ti extreme edition or the Zotac 1080Ti Amp extreme.
